I hope you're not running boxed control arms. That's where you get the floor being ripped out... :P

Progress looks aaawesome man. You gonna need custom carpet for that chassis rail job though? :tease:

Won't be long til this thing is tearing up the streets the way you're going.

Yeah for sure. And yes im very happy with the fab work, He does a great job and is why he has a very good reputation.

HAHA the contol arms are boxed lol.

Yeah i kno about the carpet, at least the carpet that the previous owner had brought from rarespares is in two pieces so i can use the front section.

Painted all the under body with POR 15 today will give it a 2nd tommorrow hopefully.

Yeah im hoping to have it done by xmas, but probably later.

Painted all the under body with POR 15 today will give it a 2nd tomorrow hopefully.

Did you read the instructions on the POR15 can?

The second coat has to be applied while the first coat is still tacky ( 3-4 hours ). If the POR15 has dried then you have to rub the gloss off with 600 grit.

If you intend to apply proof coat to the wheel arches then this also has to be done when the POR15 is still tacky or rubbed down with 600 grit. If you apply proof coat to dry glossy POR15 it will fall off.

Another update.

Under body and inside of car has been painted.

Got the engine back 3.8 Ltr V6. Still got a bit of work, the sump is wrong as the oil pickup hits, where it has the bend in it, so we are looking at getting that changed or altered.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Brake work: Upgraded/ recond booster, New vt (PBR) master cylinder/ sender unit and recond rear brakes.
Posted Image

Also picked up the gearbox today, it had 2nd and 5th gears replaced and a new bearing and seals kit put through it.

how much POR15 did you use for the interior and undercarriage? did you brush it on or spray it?

that was 2 solid coats.

And it was sprayed its the way to go

ok so it goes a fair way then. thanks for that! :spoton: i am thinking of doing my front end in it, diff and undercarriage and maybe the interior floor, so i reckon i should be able to do it all with 1 litre. do you need a special gun to spray it?

also how did you get under the car to be able to spray properly?

Umm, no special gun we just got a fairly cheapish gun and it works good, with a touch of thinners.

We sprayed most of the underbody just by getting under the car while it was on the car trailer, it gave a bit more height, but was still a bit cramped with axels and all that. The car trailer has a 2ft gap all the way down the middle.

Make sure u have a good mask, gloves, safety glasses or googles and full overalls, because it is strong shit.

Yes you could spray your diff, underbody and front end with 1 litre if you were efficient and did most of it at once.

We have brought 2 litres so far and that has done the whole front end(all components, see previous pages), diff, and the car which was done extensively. We sprayed alot of it in the rear quarters and inside body panels, + all underbody.

hi,
Have had a few issues with the engine and are starting to get on top of it.

Today we fitted the front end with the gearbox and engine on it to the car,

I think we may have the conversion kit engine mounts bolted to the wrong side of the 6cylinder torana mounts as there is minimal space behind the rear of the motor where the throttle body bolts on and the firewall, and also the gear lever is too far back and is hitting on the factory cross brace.

We did hit the conversion engine mounts to the front side of the 6cylinder mounts but the kits sump was hitting on the trailing arms of the front end,

Has anyone on here used the kit from V6conversions???

In the photo below it looks worse than it actually will be as the gearbox has to come up.
Posted Image

Also the car has been fitted with pedders lowered springs, but I think the front needs to go one grade lower??

The back is fine as the toranas look good with the nose lower anyway and the drop tank still has to go in.

What do you guys recon??
I think the springs go down 25mm each grade,i.e low, super low, ultra low then bump stops lol.

Yep that paint looks a bit lousy. BTW you should invest in some TIG welded rocker covers for that motor, it would really bring that engine bay up to scratch!

I'll send you some examples of what i mean on msn. I don't think you'll be able to get anything off the shelf. So if you meet any TIG welders, get talking, or just ask around in workshops.

hey,

Have had the extractors fitted,

Posted Image

Posted Image

The Extractors on the right hand side near the steering column were very tight, due to the room and the converions sump.

I honestly don't know how they get big block in there haha.

Heres a pic of the tunnel mod to fit the T5 in there.

Posted Image

Have also decided to paint strip the car as the panel beater would rather painting on bare metal and that way they give a guarantee.

Cheers Youngy

Hi
Thats alot of chopping to fit a T5. I have fitted a supra box which had no mods to the pan just modded where shifer hole is. Your extractors look like a good fit, how are you going with wiring up your engine?

Holy $#!+ I didn't think there was anywhere near that much room required for a T5.

Yeah its because the length of the box and where the engine is mounted.

If the engine was mounted further forward then the chunky part of the box would be better off because the tunnel bells out more.
