I told the chick on the phone I wanted to check if it was stolen or written off ( using ALJ04637B tag)
Checked out fine (but their records only go back to 2008)
Then I asked how I can get it registered as it only has the one plate and no chassis number and she said the car can't be registered without a chassis number even with the plates not being stolen.
I was sure it would be able to get registered as well.......

So does it have the V8 steering mods as well?
I couldnt care less about what it was and I dont think it changes its value at all.
If its straight, essentially rust free and ready for a v8 to go back into it I reckon its a bargain.
You will find a way to rego it, there always is.

John, if he buys the LJ then hopefully more pics will be forthcoming and we'll get the chance to find a definitive answer.
Cheers
Dave.

Rexy
The steering column looks to be in it's original position through the firewall. Also the top of the transmission tunnel above the gearbox looks to have been replaced. Maybe most of the V8 conversion mods have been undone?

i would not give in on the car over a bit of say so, i would first get me the pics i have asked for and just see if it is a shut and cut or a 73 shell like i am thinking, if this is the case you then take the 5-72 tag and the car to the police station and tell them it has had a v8 at some time and the inner guard with the number stamped on it was removed and replaced, and you would like a police number please,,, to buy a car like this witch the paint looks pritty good in the pics will cost you alot more to pic up a car that does need painting, if you are buying the car for your girl then she want need a v8 put in it so you can sell the v8 body kit for 600 so the car will then only owe you 7400, if you are not keen to go ahead with the sale of the car i am sure there would be more people here that would be keen
good luck cheers gong

you can fill holes with welder mate, and yes the car is worth buying, it looks ok to me but sometime pics do tell lies, selling the 9in will save you more money as well.

^duh I should've known that haha.

Yeah it's in good nick there's a couple of chips in the paint from storage (tape left on paint for too long) but the cars never been outside since it was stripped and painted.
Looks like we're going to buy it. Worst case we'll stamp the chassis no back on but buy the sounds of it service tas/police should be able to help.
It comes with a stock diff so we're going to sell the 9" it's drum brake and unsure of the ratio. It also comes with a locka for it. Any idea roughly what it's worth without knowing the ratio? Hopefully it's in good condition....
Ill get the photos. Hopefully this doesn't bite us in the bum. If its had new front rails welded on is that bad?
John do you have a number I can contact you on when I go have a look tonight? (If you dot mind that is)

but if the job has been done right it should not be a problem
check for square like gong suggested
you could pull nearly 2k for the 9"
ebay will tell the tale on that story
check completed listings as a few pop up now and again
and to custom build one is not cheap these days

resprayed 2 door is worth the asking price even without the kit and 9" jump on it before someone else does
