I believe these are NLA from GMH so what is the best brand/type to use as a replacement? Also can you rebuild the original pump are there kits available. One last thing is the XU-1 pump different to a normal Torana pump (I've only ever had XU-1s so I don't know).

Same water pump was used on 6cyl S, SL, GTR & XU1.
Haven't heard of any repair kits for the red, blue,black six pumps. As for best brands to use hmmm, if you can find one with a cast impeller grab it, other than that I haven't had to buy a new water pump for yonks so no idea what is the best brand on the market ATM.

there is a slight diff for LC and LJ
the fan bolt pattern for the LC is smaller, HK HT and earlier
the LJ pattern is HQ, LH etc

I've never seen the small hub water pump fitted to any LC by the factory.
The change from small to large hub was HT release (May 69) which is 6 months prior to the LC's release. AFAIK all Torana 6-cyl motor had the large hub.

That was also my understanding. LC XU1 is large hub.

I had a small hub fan on a LC at the farm with a 186 in it but obviously as the motor was not original the fan wasn't either, must have been a HR motor
