Anybody done some Spoiler Plastic repairs yet,

would be nice to see some pictures in progress.

Be great to have a GMH-Torana Workshop for doing Tutorials,

I have worked in Corrosive places where big bore Plastic Pipes are welded together,

but I found this Youtube Video for use in cracked plastic sheet:-

Hi guys

Welding plastic can only done with a heat gun with a small tip on the end.

The plastic to use must match or it won't weld.

let's say we're fixing a crack. First you need to cut at 45° from the crack, like when welding metal.

We use a sharp blade on the plastic to take the shine off, before welding.

Most of the shaping is done by cutting.

You only use solvents at the end, as once used you can not weld again.

When I get into work later today I'll put some pictures of the heat gun and what I mean about the how you need to make the cut.

I've been weld PVC , NYLON , HF4 , XLPE just to name a few for the past 9 year's, it not what I'm employed as, but when the sh#t hits the fan I get asked to do the repairs. Last 5 months now.

There are some pictures of the heat gun I use at work and a little demo of how to do it.

Pic 1 heat gun

Pic 2 45° cut

Pic 3 just showing two bits

Pic 4 starting to weld

Pic 5 welding done

Pic 6 trim and sand

Pic 7 after cleaning with M.E.K.

Not a perfect weld, but I think you'll get the drift.

In the top of pic 5/6 you will see burnt PVC , setting the heat gun is very important.

PVC is what I welded
