Hey guys, i had a thread before, but i had it removed (long story). But heres a new one..

Car: LC GTR 1970

Colour: Voodoo Blue (VE Commodore)

Wheels: Showwheels Westcoast painted to look like sprintmasters (refer to "Macka's" torana for what they look like) 16 x 8 rear, 16 x  front

Engine: Heres where the fun really starts.. (its currently half finished)
E85 fuel (hopefully, not too sure yet)

202ci Holden Black Block

Holden Red Crank
JE or Ross forged pistons

Honda H-beam forged conrods
Custom billet girdle

Fully ported yella terra alloy head

yella terra roller rockers

.600 thou lift roller cam

Sonic Injection 48mm EFI Manifold with efi hardware fibreglass airbox

Goal is 300hp for the engine

Diff: Top of the line Borg Warner from Aussie Diffs

Gear box: Alloy cased muncie from dads HQ GTS 350

Interior: Unsure at the moment.. does anyone have or know of any gtr front seats? if not, possibly recaro's, but i would like original seats if i can get them

Brakes: At this stage, probably commodore

Bodywork is currently 280 hours in (as of 12/4/13)

Will post some pics now

Thanks, Ryan

Looks tidy!

Why are you using a red crank? And what was the original colour combo of the car?

Voodoo looks great at the moment, but it will really date the car... A bit like Hothouse green or Blueprint blue...

as apposed to what other crank? I believe its because its lighter and has no malerie metal.

No idea to be honest, tags were stolen, only one left was the vin tag

mmm, good point. blueprint blue is really dated hey. what colour do you suggest?

Hi gorto88,

As RIM-010 has suggested and what Straightlinemick has said on another thread, the red crank is lighter but the blue and black crank are fully balanced ( or almost which can rev higher/ smoother ), but you can knife edge a blue/ black crank down to the weight of a red standard crank if that helps. Dave I

p.s. great way to do the GTR upgrade with paint stripper.

The engine builder definately favoured the red crank more than the blue/black, i'll be sure to ask him exactly why this is next time i head up there

I like my Torries in 70's colours, personally. There's a few really nice blues from back then, if you're set on blue. I you want to modernise it a bit, you could 'ghost' the GTR stripes, just by adding a pearl to the base colour...

All just suggestions, obviously :)

Sucks to hear about the tags, but there's ways of confirming that it's a GTR without them.

Ryan,
You are doing a great job mate and l am watching with interest. Glad to hear you have ordered the wheels. Color is very personal however l agree that a 70's color would look great. Mediterainian Blue would look good!! Also find a set of original LC seats. They don't have to be GTR. They can just be trimmed to GTR specs.
Macka

PS. If you have the VIN l would have thought Bazza could get the details of the car to see whether it was a GTR, color etc however could be wrong.

still had to weld in new floor pans and fix up the back because they dont sell rear floor pans...

the sand blaster did it pretty cheap i reckon, $550 cash if i recall correctly, he spent a whole day on it, all inside, wheel arches, underneath, engine bay etc.

Hi Ryan

Good work mate, great to see a father and son getting into a project.

Looks like you only have the Compliance plate which doesn't have the Vin number on it, only the chassis number and build month.

In the following pic there are holes in the firewall where the GTR triangular throttle bracket should be. Did you remove it? Was it spot welded on or bolted on?

Cheers

Dave.
