no probs thanks mate.  where do you get them? rare spares?  whats the best ones to get?  my ones perished and integrated

If you want urethane insulators get SuperPro made by Fulcrum Suspensions. The Nolathane have a bad habit of crumbling after a couple of years, regardless of whether the car is used regularly or not.

Dads nolathane bushes in his monaro are probably 8 years old and are still fine

My understanding is that it was a bad batch a couple of years ago so the ones in the Monaro may well be ok.

Maybe they changed the formula or something?

What I do know is that LOTS of people put up pics of there brand new, not driven on bushes that had totally disintegrated.

I haven't seen any new complaints about it recently though so maybe they have sorted it out?

Kit Pt No. SPF0220K  SuperPro call them bushes, their correct name is insulators.

Edit: Sincere apologies for the thread steal Ryan. About time we all got back to your build.

Yeah I know my mate had issues with the body to chassis bushes in his HQ coupe. By the time the car was ready for the road, the bushes were non existent and the body had to be separated from the chassis again to replace them with rubber.

Who knows, mine are fine. All these horror stories, but no explanation. IIRC they breakdown after exposure to oil. You can only use a special grease for them. Besides nolathane has a lifetime warranty anyway. Rubber is good but bloody boring.

Another thing too is a lot of people dont install them correctly. For example installing them on control arms and tightening them on the hoist. Once the cars are under load the bushes get the shit twisted out of them. Not the case with toranas, but a lot of other cars that ive seened.

Well with a company as widely recognised as Nolathane, lets hope it was just a bad batch and they have sorted the issue out, surely they would keep selling them if they were as bad as what you have said! Well, here's hoping anyway, time will soon tell though!

Not just a bad batch mate, Nolathane bushes have been falling apart for years and years... I had a couple in my VN Calais that lasted months... Plenty of people seem to swear by them though!

Been too busy to work on the torana lately.

Bought a set of boot rubbers for the steering rack that is freshly painted it 2-pack and they didnt fit, so much for direct replacement.

Hoping to find some motivation some time before summernats (hopefully sooner rather than later) and debut it at summernats 28

That will be the Greatest RYAN

Making it into the top 60 would be the best reward after a long journey with the car. If we continue building the car to the same high standard we are now, I dont see any reason why it isnt achievable! :spoton:

The engine builder has been busy and hasnt had much time to work on the 202, he will start working on it again shortly.

The heads, manifold, girdle, main caps and block have been machined and are ready for assembly.

EB has been in contact with Ian Tate i believe, and he will be making a crank out of forged 4340 for us. He wasn't comfortable pushing the envelope with over 300hp on the standard cranks.

Ready to order pistons and rods, forged 10.8ish:1 comp forged JE pistons and forged H-beam rods with carr bolts.

Starting to get excited!

I got a over the phone call costing on a " billet crank"  I'm not going to say how much it was from crankshaft rebuilders. but your motor is going to be an expensive bit of kit.

WTF are you going to do with 300 hp at the treads ?

sorry don't get me wrong ryan with the motor build, I'm interested in the rod and piston combo to go on the crank. is it a stroked crank ?

If you are going to the expense of making a new billet crank then stroking it a little will create a better combo. I'm no engine builder but have been investigating options and one of the options is listed below which is a " off the shelf " standard combo.

Crankshaft re builders  have a stroking kit you get;

  • cast crank - obviously with there treatment to NC spec
  • pistons with valve relief in top
  • rings and rods - not sure if they are forged or cast yet.
  • balancing of all of the above
