Awesome Ryan coming together very nicely. You could use a silver paint pen for the edging on the dash, have heard of guys doing that to their LH and LX dashes. As far as the stickers go I am sure someone else can help you with that.

Will have a look at the pens..

The local signwriters pretty good, i would say he will be able to make me up some small stickers, doeesnt matter if they fall off after a period of time, can always get new ones made up i guess

Same as mine, except I'm pretty sure my return line from the fuel rail goes back to the surge tank, not the main tank.

yeah, I could still do that, just might be a bit neater to go back to the main tank, depends how much room i have in the boot

Ok, so after sending back all the chrome work I had done. It is finally good enough! A lot happier this time 'round..

The inside of the boot hinges are the only parts that arent up to scratch now, not sure whether we will use them or send them to get someone else to chrome them a 3rd time.. Other than that, very happy. Especially seeming they didnt charge me at all to have it all re-done.

Some don't like chrome. Dave I

good price too, but I guess, you have to pay through the nose for a perfect job as you are saying

Got them done at a very good price.

As for some not liking chrome, while it may look like a lot, I think we have planned it out nicely and there is a good mix of chrome and paint. It will certainly not be over-powering or off-putting in the chrome department as some show-cars are.

I think that the old red and blue hose fittings for braid lines has started to die out, and will slowly look out-dated over the next 10 years or so. We have decided to go with polished fittings (will order them this week). Should look good with the contrast from the glass black engine bay.

The 044 pump is way to big for your motor a vl turbo hi flow will be plenty. And the holley black also way too big id be using a small carter lift pump.

Trust me.....iv done a few systems and they are pretty noisey with the 044

Hi  Ryan .

Are  you  sure  that  the  chrome  platers  have  given  you  back  the  correct  parts  as  the  bonnet  hinges  are  LH  - LX  Torana  ones .

1. Already had the holley black
2. Can buy an infinite amount of surge tank and brackets to suit an 044
3. Needs to be able to support at least 500 horsepower, for if i turbo it when i get off my p's

What's the difference? These are the hinges that came off the car

I have 403rwhp with 1 standard VL pump! I have 2 on the swirl pot but only 1 is ever used at any time so 1 is a spare!

I use the satandard VL intank pump to fill a 7lt swirl pot (yes over kill i know but just made it out of what was laying around! 6" stainless :) )

I run the return line back to the swirl pot! Originally it was to the tank but found sometimes it appeared to run the pot low!

Yep. With my XR6T ute with 396rwhp, 2L surge tank, factory in tank pump filled the pot, Bosch 044 was suitable with larger injectors, return line into the pot, overflow back to the tank.

Here's a diagram I did for the fuel system

img005.jpg

Im gonna jump on the bandwagon and agree this si somewhat up the duff, before you go spending your hard earned.

1/ return line from fuel rail goes back to surge tank. Return line from surge tank back to tuel tank. Otherwise your lift pump is working harder than it has to.

2/ -8 from the tank to the surge tank is overkill. You want -6 here. -8 from the surge tank to the main pump is fine.

3/ holley black as a lift pump is bullshit. Trust me you dont want it.

4/ return line from surge tank should be above the feed line from the lift pump.

5/ you have a coarser filter after the main pump heading towards the fuel rail than you do between the lift pump and the surge tank? THat ones a question, wondering why you went that way.

Cheers.

1. I dare say the 2l surge tank will be constantly full, so I don't see the point in running it back to the surge tank if it is already 9/10 full, it would end up flowing back into the fuel tank anyway wouldnt it?

2/3. Here is what the engine builder said to me;  "I usually use a vane type pump although they are noisy (if you can hear over engine) it allows the movement of any air in the system whilst cornering etc, easily. A holley blue or alike will be more then enough. The lift pump should be fed with a head of pressure, (pump level/lower than outlet from tank) like a carb system from base of tank. With the flow rates we will see, a -8AN feed to holley will be fine."

4. Okay, wasn't too sure with that bit

5. The 80 micron filter is basically to just keep any small rocks or foreign items out. Will hardly restrict flow. The 100 micron filter is much larger and is to keep the injectors free of ANY possible dirt, junk etc.

I use a Holley black in my LJ & you can still hear it with open pipes.

If it was my setup I'de install the larger 100 micron filter before the surge tank then fit the smaller 80 micron filter before the injectors.

100 micron=.100mm

  80 micron=.080mm

^^ Would have to agree with this. I have not worked on fuel systems but do work on

some high pressure water systems in specialised frictionless milling and the filters get finer as they move away from

the pump.

pump to milling head.

100

25

5

basically the 100 is the rock catcher. then finer as gets closer to the business end.

would think this theory works the same from a fuel tank to injectors.

The reason for returning the fuel to the surge tank and not the main tank is that if the 044 pumps MORE fuel than the Holley black, the surge tank will eventually run dry.

The lift pump is always returned to the main tank, and the main pump always returns to the surge tank. As for the lift pump working harder, the lift pump will always be free flowed back to the main tank, so is not working into a pressure head, it is unloaded, will run quieter, and will have a longer life expectancy.

The filter to protect the Injectors from debris and rubbish should be 10 micron, and the 100 or 80 micron before the lift pump if possible, or at least before the surge tank, as mentioned earlier.

The Cater Gold works great as a lift pump, and will lift fuel easily, but they can be a little noisy, but compared to a Holley pump are like a church mouse, I'd like to find a Carter Gold shaped and sized pump that is a gerotor style pump, LOTS quieter.
