Yeah but there's hundreds of em, and there's heaps of awesome colours out there that aren't orange :D

Dunno why you want to go with a black engine bay, I thought you wanted this car show-standard?

have you seen the latest street machine? it has an orange lj with a gloss black engine bay and it looks sweet, really makes the engine 'pop'.

Hi Ryan,

That LJ looks nice but I do like an LJ in Salamanca red.

I must admit I have a soft spot for orange. I personally prefer a black interior and engine bay.

Does it matter if there are lots of a particular colour of a car around? I don't think so.

Like I said earlier if it's a colour of the era or close to then it will look nice.

I am also a big fan of cyan blue with a black interior and engine bay.

I guess being an old fart I favor black interiors on any car and the period correct engine bay colour.

It is your choice but I just thought I would share my thoughts.

Warren.

Thanks for your thoughts Warren, it does make the choice easier.

Just because their are a lot of orange cars are going to stop me painting it that colour, i dont care what colour other cars are, i care what colour MY car is.

Will check out some pics of cyan blue and then show dad

Ryan,

Gorto, Cars coming along pretty well mate keep at it. I don't think how many cars are around with the same colour etc. At the end of the day mate you get to pop the shed door, look in side and think that's my car. It's good to see you havin a good crack at repairnig it. As long as theres another torana on the road. keep it up mate.

cheers woosha

Hi Gorto, first of all well done, great work so far.

If you want to check out the hundreds of torana colours here's the site for it: http://www.holdentorana.com/paint/

We're pretty lucky with the choice of original colours we get as torana owners, so many are awesome. But at the end of the day it's your car so paint it however you want!

Edit: I think a lot of those colours are from other Holdens as well actually

I have a black lc and I'm forever polishing it I'd go Indy orange with Indy orange houndstooth with gtr stripe up the top of the guard

Personally, loneOranger orange only looks good on the LJ. My suggestion to you is PURPLE!! I never used to like it, and now i love it. Theres a few to choose from, plumdinger being a nice option. Something about chrome on purple looks soo right!

Failing that, black is nice. If you want to be really wild, matte black can be done really well (not with light coloured interior though).

i would have to disagree with this comment see so that the LC was the first car to hold the color, and i do wish it came with the sandelwood intirior would look sweet.

cheers gong

The LC and LJ's are the same shape, but IMO they're a decade apart in styling... I disagree with judge's comment, I think that Lone o'ranger looks sweet on both, but there's definitely colours that work on one and not the other...

Are HQ seats much bigger than lc seats? Dad said that we could get the HQ seats recovered the same pattern as LC.

Mum said i wasnt allowed to race it if it didnt have headrests thats all, and it would be a pain to pull the seats out and put a bucket seat in it every time i raced it

You need LJ seats, then they'll fit and have headrests.

Hi Ryan,

My thoughts are that you could use LJ seats like Martin suggested or even some old school 1980's Recaro, or similar seats that have head rests to keep mum happy. Perhaps even Dunny door (Commodore) VS seats. I'm not sure if Recaro type seats would fit but my comments might give you some ideas.

Have a chat with a few trimmers and see if there is a seat from another car that can be made into an LC seat.

I think that mum is correct with stipulating that you need to have head rests if you are going to race the car as it will be safer.

I fitted Recaro's to the front of my Monaro so it would be safer in 1985 and kept the original seats.

Keep in mind that you can keep an eye out for the original seats and trim them up so they are ready to go if you ever wanted to fit them.

Warren.
