Been down this road plenty of times. I've run a few 15" wheel combos on my unflared LHs, the main problem you may run into with the rims you plan to run is tyre clearance with the front lower edge of the guards. I ran 15x7" rims with a 4.5" back space & 225x60x15 tyres on the rear of my saffron LH, I ran 15x6" with 3.5" back space & 195x60x15 tyres on the front & they fouled on this part of the guard when turning lock to lock with the steering. This car had a 290mm disc & twin piston PBR caliper conversion on the front which did increase the track by around 8mm each side, however my SL/R has a CRS HQ-WB disc brake conversion & the same combo still fouled on the lower front edge of the guards. I have since purchased a pair of 15x6" rims with 4" back space i'm hoping will give the extra clearance using the same 195x60x15 tyres.

On the front of my lx sedan I found a 15x7 with 4.25 inch backspace and 195/60/15 were fine as were 205/55/15 on the same rims. Standard Torana stubs with turned down HQ discs / HX calipers.

I had Simmons 15x7" front and rear with 225/50/15 rear and 205/55/15 front and that was a nice fit without any mods at all or scraping

Got 225/50/15 on rear and 205/50/15 on front with no clearance problems. Wheels are dragways that were not as deep dished as their standard ones, not sure what the offset is.

Those Simmons look great on that car. You said they were 55 series on front? Is that right, why not 50.

They are exactly what i'm fitting to my SL/R, except i'm using the 15x6" rims for the front, 15x7" for the rear. I had exactly the same set of wheels on my saffron LH with 195x60x15 tyres front, 225x60x15 tyres rear.

With the increased track created by the Hoppers front brake kit, the 15x6" with 4" back space & 195x60x15 tyres still touched the front lower edge of the front guards, i'm hoping the same combo will fit better on my SL/R with the standard L34/A9X spec track. I'm not claiming to be an expert on tyre/rim combos for LH Torana, i'm only trying to give you the benefit of my trial & errors.

In the second last pic, if you look real close you can see where the tyre has rubbed the paint of the guard. I never modified the standard guards & the camber/castor, toe in/out was set up perfectly by my brother in-law who works for Bob Jane T-Marts. I also know the car's chassis wasn't bent either, i'm a panel beater by trade & I know how to check chassis alignment. I'm certain people will try to say my car was bent or i did something wrong that caused the tryes to foul on the guards & that larger tyres & wheels will fit unflared LH Toranas, again only offering my experiences. Here is the same car with similar aftermarket alloy tyre/wheel combo, but 15x6" with 3.5" back space front.

This front tyre/rim combo fouled worse than the Rally rims, on lock to lock turning, the tyre would grab the guard & buckle it slightly making tight parking etc a three/four point turn in most cases.

Thanks Mate! very helpful indeed might do some measuring and thinking i do have a set of stocko hq 14x5 ands 14x6 rims to fall back onto just looking for another set of wheels to run on the street instead of the draglites currently fitted

No probs, my SL/R currently has 14x6" GTS rims with 215x60x14" tyres all round & they clear perfectly lock to lock with standard unmodified guards. GTS or Rally rims look tough on unflared LH-LX in my opinion & isn't commonly done, looking forward to seeing any pics you may put up of your car with this combo. Cheers Matt

I'll back up what Matt is saying.

I've ran 15's on the front on previous torana's with 205's and 195's and always had an issue with catching the front of wheel arch. Nothing worse I reckon - especially with fresh paint.

For this reason (and I'm not sure what wheels I'm running yet) I had my body man chop this area off my guards and asked him to make it look neat and tidy.  I'm really happy with how it came out.  I have some pics of the fully painted guards but it's easier to tell before the paint went on....

Is it at standard height springs or lowered?
