Nice pick up Craig.
For starters I can see the GTR throttle bracket on the firewall and the GTR throttle lever behind the booster.
Has it still got the original 173s engine?

Cheers Dave.
It has a 179 HP, its had at least two motors since the original that I know of.
How do you know it had a 173s?
Nice pick up there Potts, are you coming on the run tomorrow? I have a spare seat if you need a lift.
Nah not tomorrow, I wanna get my shed sorted so I can get this thing on the road
Cheers for the offer though.
Hi Craig, love the thread title, thought it might not happen.
I really like the houndstooth inserts but in the black and white. The orange looks a bit off or faded.
Indy orange is awesome colour, did it have a stripe? I know you like them.
Not a fan of the flares but only cause I prefer original looking cars. I have a drivers guard lip you can have if you want to start collecting them?
Your shed looks fun, three of them. Cheers Marty
I don't know if it had the stripe or not Marty. When it was restored back in the 80's it was already linamint and had rally stripes.
I will probably put stripes on it cause I am a bit of a fan.
I'm thinking I might make the flares a bit bigger, sort of like this;
Haha, just kidding.
Sounds like orange houndstooth is popular but I'm still on the fence.
I'll keep an eye out for it now and decide later, there's no rush really.
Thanks for all the kind words guys.
It looks better in the pics, but then I guess they usually do.

It had a 173s cause it's a late 1971 GTR.

And pick up your cat... hahaha

It had a 173s cause it's a late 1971 GTR.

Dave.
Correction, it is not a late 1971 build GTR and therefore would have been fitted with a 161s engine, not a 173s.

Any idea what carbs it should have Dave?
I'm guessing it would have had an Opel box too?
Posted 03 June 2013 - 12:39 PM
The LC GTR's had the two barrel WW stromberg on a holden manifold.
Opel box too!
cheers

I thought 173S LC's had Aussie 4 speeds?
Posted 03 June 2013 - 06:57 PM
Maybe.
I was told this one originally had an Opel but it kept breaking.

Yep that sounds about right.
173s engines had the Aussie M20 4spd.
161s engines had the Opel M20 4spd.
