Picked up a few bits from Dattoman that should keep me busy for a while, although still waiting to get my steering rack back, should be ready Monday I hope.

And here is my painted up drive shaft now with yoke plug and 2 new uni's. Fire engine red is really really red. Who woulda thunk it?

True on both counts guys.

WTF have I got myself into though?

Right front suspension is out and in little piles all over the shed.

Now I have to work out how to get the ball joints out, any tips appreciated.

The top one looks like it still has original rivets, happy days.

I can drill that out.

And will the bottom one come out in the vice or do I have to get it pressed out?

Good call to replace it though I reckon.

It will be MUCH nicer to drive once all this is done.

Definitely worth the effort.

When i did my front end i disasembled it and dropped all the bits in to a local mechanics and had them press in the new bushes and ball joints.

It costs stuff all and makes things so much easier

Making slow progress still.

Wilkinson's suspensions have been fantastic, I got my rack back yesterday and dropped off my LCA's and new ball joints.

Went back today and picked them up, ball joints fitted and all.

I remembered I had these too so they are going in when I put it back together

I'm currently trying to remove my upper ball joints. They appear to have the original rivets in so I am trying to drill them out while still in the car.

Not easy especially when my drill bit goes blunt after one rivet, and there's not a whole lot of room in there.

Knock the top of the rivet with angle grinder, then use a pin punch to knock the rest out.

Probably not.

If I was going to would you vote for Linamint or Fire Engine Red?

While your under the car , maybe check the K frame for a crack in the bracing , it's common , another problem I've had on our two last blue slips , is the rear brakes don't pass the brake test (NSW)so I would give them a bit of attention , if your rego test is the same as ours .

Yeah good idea re the k-frame and I have got some rear cylinders so I can do the rear brakes cause they look like they are shot!

Still battling with ball joints at the moment, one side is almost done, but taking a lot longer than expected!

Be all worth it when you have plates on it and it wont leave the front end on the road when you hit the first corner. May as well do as much as you can afford to the front end while its in pieces.

Regards

One side done

New ball joints, spring, shock, disk, and caliper was rebuilt last year with new pads.

No play in there now.

Mostly stuff I've bought over the years for my other cars that have never made it in lol.
