Yeah and bring my damn cat!!!

Oh yeah I had a drool over that orange LJ earlier.
I reckon the LC seats will look even better than that too.

Your cat made its way back the first morning after you took it
Seems it wants to stay here for abit longer

Nah, it didn't make its way back, it did a runner when I went to put it in the car.
I'm sure I sent a PM?

She's been fed

Tried a different carby that I borrowed off MarkM but still no joy.
Apparently it needs to have fuel delivered to it before it can distribute it to the cylinders.
So I bought one of these.

Probably not but I thought it was
Turns out it might be the fuel pump.
I'll have some more time to work on it now, footy is done and dusted for me so should have more time and be less knackered.
Aiming for the 1st Brocktober to be on the road.
Probably a solid days work and it will be ready.

I could have loaned you a glass bowl pump
Posted 03 September 2013 - 10:32 PM
I've got two I could have used but I wanted to make sure I have a known good pump cause I'm still not sure what the issue is.
The more I think about it the more I'm convinced it is the pump but that may be cause I just bought a new one
Cheers for the heads up though, I'll bear that in mind if I need any other bits and pieces.

Ok, here's my self nomination for dumbass of the year award.
Car is running terrible, will start and idle but putting the boot into it at all causes engine to die/backfire, cough massively etc etc.
Different carby, car will start when putting fuel down the carby but once that runs out, she dies, and no more fuel comes through.
Must be the fuel pump then.
New fuel pump, exactly the same story, no fuel!! wtf is going on?
Do I need to prime the pump?
Do I have a blockage somewhere?
Then Mrs Potta pipes up with a smart arse comment, "maybe its got no petrol in it hahahaha"
Of course I dismissed the possibility cause I put some in already when I bought the car home and I haven't driven it, but just to make her happy, I put a few litres in the jerry can and topped her up.
Was going to try this morning but didn't have time, so was going to try later this arvo or tonight until a slight disagreement led to me being banished to the shed to watch the Freo game.
May as well try the car right?
Starts straight away but dies after a bit, that's ok, must have run out of the fuel I put in the carby.
Second or third go and she goes again, give her a boot and she revs!!!
Fark Yeah!!
Happy Days.
Then I look at the telly and Freo are in front after being smashed early on.
Does it get any better than that??
She still runs a bit rough but I'll sort that out.
LSD works which is a bonus.
So, was it the carby? Was it the fuel pump? Or was it just struggling to pull fuel through cause it was a bit low?
I'm saying, and will always say, it was all three.

Hi Craig,
I think there is a Fuel Filter in the Tank on the end of the pick-up ( small like a pack of Lifesavers ) and they close up. Dave I
p.s. undo the fuel Line after the Pump and Kick it in the Guts for a sec to see if the Fuel is coming out

you know my lawn mower does the exact same thing....Ok, here's my self nomination for dumbass of the year award.

Running sweet now, horn works, tidied up a few other bits.
I think I'll need to raise the back a bit cause the back wheels are going to rub otherwise, especially with kiddies in the back.
I found my other bonnet catch that has the extended bit so you can open it manually, I'll use that for now so I don't have to worry about fitting the release cable, still missing the bracket for that.
Seats will come out soon so I can check the floor for holes and replace the carpet.
But getting there.
Found a few bits that aren't perfect on it but overall still very happy with my purchase and now that it is driveable the motivation to get it regoed is well and truly back.
Posted 10 September 2013 - 01:34 AM
haha its running like a dog still..oh well, keep trying.
Changed the bonnet release to a standard one for now, but had to change the grill too.
Lucky I had another one there that wasn't too bad.
It doesn't have the resistor thingy on the inside of the guard, I'm wondering if that is contributing to the problem?

I don't know if that is causing an issue cause I don't really know what it does

Picture works here and that is a Modern Alternator Regulator. Dave I

Ok, cheers Dave.
Nothing to do with it running rough then.
I might need to try your in cabin timing rod Dave.
It isn't liking low revs but when it hits the sweet spot look out, she's off like a shot.
I tried to do the timing with a timing light but the mark on the pulley is not getting anywhere near the timing marks.
Definitely better than it was running before though, baby steps.

Oh yeah and whoever did the flares did them in a bit of a hurry I reckon.
