I was at Kelmscott today passing my motorbike licence test (yah me)
And if its booked out for months it must be booked by ghosts cause there was all of 2 cars there the whole hour or so I was there and riding around there.

Yeah Welshpool has moved to Cannington.
There is an accredited place in Armadale who is also my usual mechanic, but I rang today and he wasn't interested, not worth the hassle apparently.
I'm actually a bit scared of fronting up at Kelmscott or Cannington cause I don't want to fail and worried about what they will pick on that I have to fix.
I'll ring in the morning anyway and see where I can get in.
I've organised to have Friday morning off work so its all go.
I just hope the car is up to scratch.

Good Luck Craig Mate,
What could go possibly wrong, thumbs up. Dave I

It's very hard to pass first time Craig, like getting a drivers licence, they like to play 'god' and make you sweat. Just look at it as a fault finding excercise and then next time that's all they check. Only problem is you have to pay for every inspection where-as in the old days you had two goes for the one fee.
The only pressure you have put on yourself is trying to be ready for the week-end run.
Good-Luck
Marty

Cheers guys.
Almost there.
I took note of Dave's comment about the carpet around the seats and the passenger side is 90% done after about half an hour.
I didn't remove any carpet at all, just did 3 cuts, one on each end and one up the middle, the mounting part of the seat goes in between and then the carpet covers the base.
I may have to trim it a bit yet but so much neater and easier too.
Good point about putting the pressure on myself Marty, but I'm sure you are well aware that if I didn't set myself a goal then it would never get done.

Dont know if it will work for you but when it gets inspected show interest in whats going on if you are able to watch.
If it gets picked dont crack a wobbly or play dumb. Kinda thank him for pointing out the problem.
Used to work for me. But times have changed no doubt.
Best of luck with it.

Nah she no good.
Thought I had fixed the fuel issue but seems not.
Was going great in the back yard, out the driveway, took off great in first, into second ok but a bit spluttery and the into 3rd pretty much died, spluttered, backfired, not happy.
I'm thinking fuel blockage?
I put another 20 bucks fuel in just in case she was a bit low but no change.
All the late nights and working extra hours to get the morning off for nothing.
I reckon I should have listened to Dave I when he said to check the fuel pickup, but I couldn't get in the boot at the time.
I WILL make the NEXT forum run....

Good Morning Craig,
Just hammer and dolly the pick-up locking ring around to pull out the Fuel Sender Unit, cut off the filter, clean the pick-up tube in and outside, and put back in with another seal and test it with an external Fuel Filter. Dave I

nah mate, I gave up, after late nights for a couple of weeks (or longer actually), and last night thinking the electrics were totally shot cause I could get no power, then this, I had had enough.
Might give it a rest for a week or two then try again.

Hi Craig, sorry to hear about the 'failure to launch'. Had you paid for a pass to drive unlicensed car? How much are they?
21 bucks for 48 hours Marty
Posted 02 November 2013 - 07:33 PM
Holy shit Batman !!!
The last 48 hour permit I got in QLD was over 100 bucks 7 or so years ago.
And the last 24 hour one I got 3 or so years ago was over $70.
Or are you talking without the insurance ?
ps. If you clean the lines and it makes no difference bite the bullet and drop the tank. Give it a good flush out and a coat of paint, maybe even paint the inside with that special sh!t if you can afford it. I went through all this with my Hilux earlier in the year, it had just been used as a farm vehicle and filled with jerry cans for years. Now it's running like a beauty.

Yeah, I think it was $22 bucks but did it online at about midnight Thursday night.
I still have a couple of hours left on it, might go see if I can fix it and go for a blat...
Or go to bed.....
Next time I'll take it for a blat up the street without a permit and risk getting dobbed on or whatever, chances of getting caught would be pretty slim but I am a bit of a worrier.

Might take you up on that if I can't get her going any better Al.
I haven't played with these for a long time so it might be good to get another opinion.
