The fella told me that there was still problems with the fit of this thing, is that still the case after all this time?

Nighttrain554, there was some excess pressure around one of the arches when fitted. It is my understanding that we have now adjusted the form to improve this aspect.
Regards
Edam
And he also said they have been re-released to the market now , so apparently they should be right to Oder.
But I cannot confirm this

Nighttrain 554, unfortunately there was further delays here I was not aware of with adjustments to the LX SS front spoilet so it's likely to be another 1-2 months. Sorry all

Just got a quick question about the flares that you guys used to sell a few years back ( by a few I mean prob a long time ago) but no longer do, I am just wondering why you don't sell them anymore? As the ones I got for my hatch fit great but my wheels now hit on them when turning lock to lock. The ones that were originally on it were fine with those wheels but I am not sure where they came from so might be a bit different in design.

Easiest way for me to explain the differences Kevhaze is by referring to moulds as generations.
The first generation moulds were made from the original flares.
These will be the best fit.
Then someone would have taken moulkds off the flares produced by the first generation. to become second generation.
Each generation will be slightly different. Factors include stiffness of the flare the mould was made from, stiffness of the resultant mould.
There will be a little shrinkage and warpage increase each generation.
As time has gone by it would be possible that there are flares being made from 20th or 30th generation moulds.

Dunno if original, never seen one myself.
looking at the pics
i would say original HDT
as i bought one exactly the same from a guy here in w.a
that had really good connections with the holden dealer team
but the difference between HDT and original holden GM product is vastley different
not in dimentions
but in the factory mounting brackets
have since obtained the gm holden version as a spare
sorry won,t post pics though
as anyone with an A9X hatch that has removed the rear spoiler may appreciate
these cars are worth a lot ofmoney now and some parts should not be replicated

Is the SS A9X bobtail different to an SS one Dave?
the SS did not come standard with the rear spoiler
but the A9X hatch did
but through gmh parts after 9/77 you could purchase one
for your SS

When I restored the A9X I noticed how different the flairs are compared to whats sold now. The originals were over a 1/4 inch thick and heavy, were radial ground on the back to fit to the body, not sanded by a hand held grinder. All the little extra mounting tabs glassed in for alignment. You could not bend them as they were too thick, and they were the correct body shape to start with. These days they make them thin so it can be bent to suit, which makes them curve in at the bottom.
Asked one of our local fiberglass guys once to do me a thick set of flares, did not want to as he said they would not be able to pull up to the panels and I would be back complaining of fit.

I am thinking of putting a SS front spoiler on my unflared LH SL/R for a bit more road clearance as I have heard they are a shorter than the 5000 version. Firstly, is this true and by how much shorter? Secondly, what is the fit like on the Rares product? Particularly since it is a one piece and if they are too wide or narrow. Also does the Rares SS spoiler need flared front arches? Cheers for any responses.
