Heath I just used a BA Falcon master cylinder assembly, all mounted under the dash. Used the late commodore reservoir on the engine bay side. It was a simple conversion and the clutch is very progressive and light. I have concentric throw out bearing also

This is the exact setup I used. Works well and very easy

We can probably stop trying to convince Heath to put an LSx in the hatch... He's already chosen his powerplant I think it'll be a lot more fun than a Chinese Chev!

Well believe it or not I'm doing a fair bit of work on the car still, but it doesn't seem as easy to make photo-worthy progress!

Finished smoothing the brake line boss areas. Opposite side:

Underside of the guard was a bit untidy, had to weld some filler pieces that I can weld down before it looks factory:

Also managed to find a way to get the dash in (had to cut part of the frame off, while keeping the top skin pretty much in-tact (didn't want a weld I have to hide across the top panel of the dash! Hence the funny dog-leg cut:
x67o7Uk.jpg

It was a touch long, so I cut and shut it down like 2mm. Weld being on the edge means you won't see anything.

Not going to put it in until I do some repairs to the plenum.

Well the plenum honestly wasn't in awful shape - probably better than most Toranas. The last owner had made a reasonable attempt from the underside (with the dash frame still installed etc. which I think would have been fairly tricky. The panel he made up was nice but the overlap concerned me as a point at which moisture would build up, he had then tackled some of the less heavily rusted areas with a rubbery goop on the underside which was probably a decent band-aid but when the car is this far stripped it'd be silly not to go a little further.

Long story short I elected to pull the top off today so that I could do a few patch repairs, know 100% what I was dealing with, and finish it/seal it thoroughly - that last point was probably the main one!

Un-picked all of the spots welds and cut up the sides:

Open sesame:

So my car has been built quite well by the last fella, but not flawlessly. This is a repair on the LHS that is not ideal.

EmrJ4cS.jpg

The RHS is pretty rusty and hasn't been touched:

Just went balls deep and cut out all the areas I wasn't stoked with. The repair piece from the LHS I can use again, but with good top access I should be able to trim it and do a better job of installing it.

I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how that red paint got in there, then it twigged, the guy who did the last repair must have shoved a pressure pack up through the fresh air duct?! :fool:
