That finished airbox is a work of art - absolutely stunning. I'll call it out as one of my favorite parts of your car - and something that adds a nice unique element when the bonnet is popped. Well done. Hopefully that air cleaner should flow plenty for you. Being a K&N job, I'm sure it will.

One question, you stated:
“Then I cut my trumpets down in a bit of a 'staircase' to give them breathing room under the scoop, but still have them all poke a touch through the bonnet so it looks good with the scoop removed”.
I’m no fuel injection expert, but aren’t all the trumpets normally exactly the same length for balanced air flow reasons etc?
Keep up the good work, top stuff.

Cheers mate!
Yeah, I think the slight difference in length thing is sometimes practised on overpowered cars to broaden the torque curve to make it more tractable (giving it more than one 'hump' to spread the power band a bit rather than make it really peaky if it's just going to lose traction at that point anyway), but generally the easiest tune etc. would come from having them all the same. And then they all peak at the same time (certainly ideal performance if you are capacity-limited with a close ratio box).
But the desired characteristics of my motor benefit from an approx. 450-500mm trumpet at least... which is longer than I can fit in. So I just made them each as long as I could without the bellmouths being masked by sticking up too close to the underside of the scoop. And when the scoop is removed, I want them to all be visible because looks are also a massive factor (let's be honest, spending five figures on stack injection is for the look, the sound, and vibe, the street cred, whatever... it's not really about the power.).
Keep in mind this intake length is the best part of 400mm from the back of the valve. Proportionally, the maximum difference in length is under 10%. So they're not like half length and stuff. I expect they will still behave "similarly".
It is a form of compromise but I don't know that I'll experience any tangible negatives from it.
I am very sure that the difference in runner length of my Tri-Y exhaust manifolds is a lot more dramatic and that would have a greater (negative) effect than the slightly staggered trumpets.

I cheated with the master cylinder Heath. I removed the peddle assemble from the BA peddle box. It was an easy fit to the Tornana and only had to extend the length of the pedal to line up with the brake pedal. As you say it light because I extended it giving more leverage, but I knew the ratio would be right because its sized to the concentric bearing system. Take up point is 60-70% of the travel from the floor(perfect).

Thanks Lenny. The pedal weight basically just ~ comes down to pedal ratios and master size. If you used a really long stroke you could make it feel a bit lighter.
By shear coincidence the lads at BOM have just tackled their version of this problem in the latest installment of Project Binky... with a uniquely "Nick" solution!

Nice one Lenny. I didn't realise you actually used the Falcon pedal box. That seems like a good solution.
Andrew, I did watch that latest episode of Project Binky - one of very few forms of mental relief at the moment hahaha. I must admit I have not yet studied what Nik did there, it gave me a huge laugh but I had my own mechanical problems sucking up my attention so I didn't spend more time on it. I cannot quite understand if you have the same pedal movement and need the same hydraulic effort (displacement + pressure) how you can radically lighten the pedal input, unless you're playing with the curve so it has better leverage where the pressure plate needs the most force applied. I need to study it more or have someone explain that to me.
Anyway, a lot has happened on this project... Generally the last 6... well probably more like 18 months during all these lockdowns have been pretty consuming and I've been pretty single-minded about the car.
The last few months are just a blur of work on this car with my focus on very little else. Sacrificing the rest of life for the car basically 100%. Working to a deadline has helped the car's progress but some days it has come with a pretty high cost. The hours are huge and the hurdles it has thrown at me have been really hard to take. You put your heart and soul into things over time expecting good results and they just totally go wrong and weigh on your conscience heavily until you resolve them. And no, I certainly have not resolved all of them. Not even close.
But skipping all the details, I drove it to dinner last night. And that was really special for me.
I wanted you guys to be able to have a quick geez before its debut event, which is Summernats.
Tomorrow, it will become a trailer queen for the trip to Canberra, of course I would prefer to drive it, but it just isn't quite ready for that.
If you see me there, come and chat. Don't expect anything near perfection on the car. It isn't finished yet, and the paint & panel isn't quite showcar level, haha. It's alright but I need some more time to get it a bit better.
I look forward to seeing some people enjoying it, though.

Epic Heath. Unless you have read all 64 pages of this post it would be impossible for anyone to appreciate all the custom fabrication and modifications you have undertaken.

Looks so delicious.
the styling of the whole car is so on point, stance/fitment, colour, your choice on window blackouts/chrome trims, injecion stacks... everything is so good.
Hope you get heaps of attention and satisfaction at summernats!
