Just wondering what everyone uses for headlight globes for their LH Torana's. I have had a look at the ones I've got and they dont seem to fit very well and wanted to get some new ones. Was driving in the rain the other day and couldn't see 20 metres in front of me. I have a broken clip on one headlight which holds the globe in place, I would like to replace as well if anyone has any ideas where I can get one from? I also noticed a little notch that the globe should sit in but current globes dont have anything like that.

Seen these ones on ebay but are H4 and have 3 prongs on them and are also 90/130 globes. Will these fit and will my car need any mods to run them?

Remove a globe and see what it is. Most of the popular Halogen conversion headlamps used H4 globes.

Not sure about Victoria but in QLD 55/60 watt is the legal max for for headlights.

I believe higher wattage bulbs can be used for off road only.

My globes are the same as these.

Was thinking either just but a set of these and install new headlights with these globes or convert to the LX headlights.

What would I need to convert to LX ones? I have the actual LX headlights themselves already but don't have any buckets, is there anything else I would need?

The LH/LX guys should be able to fill you in with what you need to convert to LX headlights.

Thanks Davo. After doing some digging around here it appears I have globes called a P45t bosch base which require a metal wire clip to hold the globe in place which I dont have. I might just buy some new headlights from the link above unless I hear from someone soon about what I need to convert to LX lights.

Here are some old globe types if anyone is chasin.

Here is pretty much a layout of the lx bucket and light, you can buy the new plugs to suit the h4 headlight connections aswell on ebay. Im running the arctic blue lamps in mine and still 55/60 and they light up much better than the standard lamps . I should also add that i got the newer style lights which reflect alot better too but all round not too bad at night

The link below was the first one that came up in the search and says for harley but its a 7 inch light in the type i bought, you can search around ebay and find a pair of them with blue(brighter)  globes pretty cheap.

Awesome Rob thanks mate. I couldnt ask for a more detailed description of how its done. Is it as simple as removing the old lights and bolting the new ones in? I read somewhere that a hole may need to be drilled to mount the LX lights or buckets?

That I'm not sure about about as mine is lx. Couldn't imagine it being to different, buy the complete buckets with adjusters and compare before removing yours and I doubt it would take a rocket scientist to fit and from memory the mounting points are a square that takes a small plastic thread clip

I don't think you will need to do anything. My LH came with LX headlights in it. I went back to original and putting the LH ones back in was no problem. There was nothing special about the way the LX lights were put into the LH mounting wise.

Pretty much the same as the LH lights, except everything is round instead of square. I did the same as above with my LH.

With the square surround, there's a plastic bit that clips in the nosecone for the bottom screw in the surround. From memory the Lx light surrounds don't need it, but keep it, don't throw it out.

Years ago though illegal to use on road the only ones in SA that were allowed to purchase the 90/130 globes were the SA police. Was guilty of flashing them as I thought they were on high beam

My advice is to go not bursons and get a pair hella H 4 headlight inserts h1058 from memory, and a pair of 60\55 Philips plus 100% brighter globes,no need to worry about upgrading the wiring. There is no comparasin in my opinion,it will set you back around $250 to do it but if you want good lights you won't be sorry
