LC HEATER Resistor?

rebuilding my heater box that was in pieces when I got it is there a resistor mounted in base plate and if so where can I get one from are they still available from auto elecys  

any help would be great

Might have to retro fit something with the same values as the old one mate............To my knowledge its either NOS or retro fitting something from Jaycar.

Yes there is a resistor in them Mick. It is a spiral wound wire mounted onto a piece of circuit board type material and has two male spade connectors on the under side for the heater fan wires.

 

The resistor is shown here below the blower fan at 2nd from the top left in Grant's pic.

Edit: As Strechlc has said, may have to look at something other than original if you can't find a second hand one.

there is a similar spiral wire resistor used in ford EL/EF from memory, mounted in the tube from the air box under the glove box,

you maybe able to adapt if stuck, should be easy to find

it used to start fires in the heater ducting or smoke out car when too many leaves got in there and dried out.

Without ever owning a little Torana, I would imagine it is there for low speed fan operation. The resistor would be bypassed for high speed fan operation.
