I wonder if anybody out there bought the whole package for their poverty pack? Imagine an L34 H.O. with vinyl bench seats!!!

There are a couple of things in this brochure I would like clarified though. What was the difference with the L34 Radiator? Mine seems to be the same size as the SL/R. Maybe more cooling fins per inch??

The other thing is the steering. Is the ratio of the rack different to other Toranas? Mine is about 2.7 turns lock to lock.

I love the last line. "Remember, there's big money in motor sport". You could read that two ways. And I know which way the money went back when I was involved

If I'm reading the above correctly you could only get the 'L34 option' if you bought an SL/R 5000.

I had a lot of this stuff as a kit many years ago, the steering and suspension parts will be the stubs, steering arms, suspension, discs, calipers and brake hoses, plus rear brake bits and axles.

Interesting read, what is it from?

Hmmmm......Flairs or Flares? I always thought the latter but it seems the former is genuine and original if this a Holden brochure.

As to your question I think Outer Control will have the answers.

It's flares.

Flare:  An expanding or opening outward.

It looks like someone didn't have the page proof read.

It is from "Accelerator" magazine which was the official publication from GMP&A to the dealers. They were all only about 15 pages long. This issue has the wheel alignment specifications for HJ and LH including L34, fuel gauge operation and fault diagnosis, fix for speedo cable noise, fix for difficult brake drum removal, and special service tools for LH amongst other things. The rest is made up of ads for GM products.

Not uncommon for errors in "official" publications. The LH parts catalogue v8 water pump diagram shows a chev pump.

Certainly Yella has had its flares on as long as anybody has known the car.  Wonder if the owner took up this option?  Will have to ask him.

The English is not very clear or precise.  I read it that you could only get the flares if you were an SL/R 5000 owner, but yes it is not clear.  There is a sentence then the fragment "plus Mudguard Flairs (sic) are available to SL/R 5000 owners".  I can see how you could read it the other way though.

Mudguard Flairs (sic)

Have never heard anyone call them that, more like fender flares but I guess they do keep mud off the panels.

I wonder if this means they converted Allan Grice's or Brocks SL/R 5000 to L34 spec or if any of the other cars were converted 5000? Cheers Aaron.

I think that fragment refers to the list of parts before it too it just that the Flairs (sic) is the last in the list parts, meaning the whole package was available to SL/R 5000 owners only.
