Hi There,
I have owned this car since 1995 & would love to know anything more people may know about this car??
The car is as follows:
Production date = 10/4/72
Series = LJ
Model = 82911 ( 82911JL199308 is on I.D TAG )
Production serial no. = 199308
Body no. = ALJ 03533A ( Adelaide Built )
Trans serial no. = 0358650 ( I think? )
Engine no. = Not listed ( would love to know )
Seller Code = 000
I am interested in knowing original colour, Trim etc as this tag is missing. Any help would be much appreciated!
LUKE

Hi Luke
I don't know how your request for info was missed last year, but apologies for that.
Unfortunately, without the Body Identification tag information, nothing can be ascertained about the original colour and trim. Your best bet is to find some remnant of the original body colour and go with that. Otherwise just pick a nice colour from the '72 colour options and match it with trim to suit.
There is no engine number because the 000 M seller code indicates that the car was used internally by GMH Melbourne. There is no engine number because there was no necessity to have it recorded for warranty purposes. The original engine however, would be in the JL1256xx to JL1258xx range.
The number 0358650 seems to be an input error or some other extraneous number. It is not a transmission number as only the numbers of auto transmissions were recorded. The number has no similarity to other TSNs that have been recorded around that time.

Bazza, TSN 0358650 appears to be consistent with the Serial Number for an Aussie 3 or 4spd of around March/April 72 Vintage.
Would possibly be the only manual transmission serial number recorded on the Warranty records if it is correct for that car.

Hi
Isn't that odd? Record the manual transmission number, but not the engine number? How bizarre. You learn something new every day.
