G'day All

The missus's Hatch needs a new bearing at the bottom of the steering column.

Got a good 2nd hand metal uni/knuckle joint but the bottom bearing is Wallaby ROOs brother TED

T'was told they are hard to get, said that Repco and GMH don't have them.

Anyone know of where they are available ?

Thanks ... Barry

Rare Spares can help you out if you don't intend to go the modified lower bearing route.

Same as ones used here and about 1/3 - 1/4 the price of rares....

(run about $22 - $30 here)

Oh, and BTW, that metal steering knuckle/uni I thought was good, is actually not so good so I am looking for one of those too

Yep, ment here as in Yanky land :)

Postage wouldn't be much obviously on something so small...or send a few together, wouldn't be much more and have spares or sell them, ha ha. (genuine ones from the local Chev dealer are not even that dear..)

Contact info ?

That would be me. :)

I stopped by my local Chevy dealer this morning and ordered up a few of them actually, figured they wouldn't go astray over there after seeing what rares is getting for them, ha ha.

Looks like postage will be $24US, but that would cover probably 6 or more of them at a time or so.. (that is the price of a small flate rate post box.)  once I get the bearings I can see how much it would cost to post one like in a padded envelope over.  Or maybe do like a group buy deal (Datto had asked me about them as well) and I could perhaps send a box of them over and someone there could distrubute them around ?

I will get a final price when I pick them up (tomorrow or Monday) but looks like I can do them around US$30 - 31 each for genuine GM ones (for a bit of a quantity deal that is)  And obviously the more sent over at a time makes the shipping cheaper. :D

Baz, Jeff helped me out getting one of these from the states a while back- they are out

of an early Vette or Camaro and are the exact bearing GHM used. Thanks again Jeff.

Gday Jeff

Probably would get 2 if I could, one for my missus's Hatch and one for my SS.

If you have anyone else interested then we might be able to do a bulk deal or what ever.

Let me know at your convenience

Thanks ... Barry

G'day Kirk

This one

Steering-Knuckle.jpg

The uni below it is OK but that steel knuckle/uni plus the bottom steering column bearing are what I am after.

If it is the one you may be able to help me with, then thanks

Barry

I can get probably 10 of them in the small box, so would be the same price to post either just 2 of them, or a bunch more.  Maybe see if we can get together a group deal, and I could post them all over to one person who could send them out from there? (assuming local postage there is going to be cheaper than the shipping from here for different ones each time?)

Just figure on AU$35 each plus postage in that case... :)   (and if we could work out a few people who wanted them, would only be like AU$28 to send them all over at once...and save me having to make a heap of trips to the post office, ha ha)

Oh, and the upper bearing is no longer available from GM...checked yesterday.

(And if you want your stuff sent, postage is going to be more than $25 :P

Well, see what deal we can work out on the bearings and if you wanted to distribute them there and we might be able to work something out. ;)   (and depending on the rush Barry is in)

If there is east coast orders I may have Jeff get me my lug nut washers shipped to Sydney with the bearings and post from here or have people collect at T fest.

Well, if I sent them all to one place (Datto for example or whom ever to handle it) it would make it cheaper of course than splitting the orders up...how pricey would it be though from WA over to VIC, etc though? Hopefully still keep them cheap enough.

If I sent them over there all together, I'd just say make it AU$38 each bearing I'd take, aside from what ever it would cost there to move them around.. (figure that makes it cheap enough and a decent deal for everyone,  I am not fussed about making a killing on them of course  :) )

I bought 10 of them at this stage, and of course could always get more if they went over well.  If someone wants a few of them, as said, it would only be close to AU$30 to send over a bunch.

If they get themselves organised in time I can take them to Torana fest if need be

Thats if I get them

If someone else gets them thats fine with me as I don't need any :)

G'day Jeff

2 for me please  :clappin: and if Datto can take them to the Fest then that would be a great help :clappin:

Would definitely need them by early October as one will go straight into the missus's Hatch to be ready for our Torana Tassie Tour leaving at the end of October

Thanks ..... Barry
