Hey, just after a bit of help. I have been rebuilding the front and rear ends of an lc torana, and I've been having a bit of trouble getting the rear bump stops into the banjo housing. Any one got any tips and tricks? They are rare spares rubber bump stops.

cheers

Soapy water and a flat blade screwdriver wrapped in masking tape to shoehorn them in with.

Good  luck  trying  to  fit  them.

I  have  tried  before  with  no  luck.

The  bump  rubbers  were  fitted  into  the  housing  first  and  then  were  spot  welded  on  to  the  diff  housing  at  the  factory .

Is that a fact?

Maybe you could tell us why spare part diff housings didn't come with the bump rubbers fitted.

thanks for all the replies. I had a quick go this afternoon with no luck. But i'm sure I will be able to get them with a bit more persistence and another set of hands. I'll let you know how I go. Does anyone think heating them a bit will help to make them softer?

cheers

I went down to Repco yesterday and asked for a can of monkey spunk, they were all out. Any other suggestions.

tried again this afternoon, no luck whatsoever. Tried crc and monkey spunk rubber grease haha. It just doesn't seem like I can do it with a screw driver. I am going to get a really solid hose clamp tomorrow and compress it and then push it through. Worth a try I guess?

cheers

I had the very same issue with my LC. I sat the bumper stop in boiling water foe a few minutes. Put grease around the mount on the diff.
They went on but still needed some pressure.

I've replaced them on 2 diffs now, and both times I boil them, get one side in the retainers on the diff. Then belt them with a large mallet!

I've tried everything that has been suggested and still no luck, haven't even really got close. Not sure what i'm going to do now?

finally got them in today! we were able to use a pipe repair clamp which I about 50mm wide so it compresses the entire rubber. we then used a socket the correct size to sit on the bump rubber and clamped down from the diff tube to the socket which forced the bump stop into the recess. I don't know if any of that makes sense but if anyone else is having great troubles with them I could probably put up a few pictures to help explain.

cheers, thanks for everyones help
