UPDATE:

well been a while comming but after a fair amount of work i managed to get this 253 running tonight

reason why its taken soo long is because of the fact the engine was seized up of rust in the cylinder bores
fortunately it wasnt too serious and was rubbed out with wet and dry to get the motor turning over again

with school still on ive had a few late nighters working on the car and tonight was its first real fire up

and lets just say with only exhaust manifolds on it sounded... interesting sort of like a drag and that was making a sund as if you were blowing air through a straw into milk.....

next on the agenda is to fix up the shifter radiator and bolt these all up so i can tune it etc

if enough interest is shown il take a movie of it firing up tomorrow night (for a mate) and post it up

I've desperately gotta hit the sack so I can't hang around to chat. But I'm impressed, congratulations.

chevs lh 253 running

theres the video for those interested

reason why its short is because of no water in the radiator and the hoses hooked up can etc still got a fair decent amount of work to put in but not as bad as it was :D

I heard it before everyone else :tease:

lol sounds shit/tough... i'm not quite sure which yet. But yeah it's good that it's working now, should be awesome when you get it all set up properly and then you can take it for a spin and enjoy all your hard work :D

lol damn I shouldn't have even bothered accepting the 10mb file if I wasn't gonna be the first :P

Actually, his neighbours probably heard it first, just before they complained about you not having an exhaust on :P

lol i want it to have the same loud bark as dicks hawk , cohen knows what im on about!

i love the story of it going through the burnley tunnel in melb(not sure on name)

droppepd it back a gear and belted it and he reckons it made the 253 bark as loud as possible and just echoed on forever!!!!!

i have experienced a short moment of this at the bobjanes muscle car event this year at calder when i was in the car we belted it going into the tunnel for the nascar track

a v8 with an agressive bark like that is what i am wanting haha

just a note to say on how ive been lashing out on the lh with buying some goodies for her including new sparkplugs oil etc finally shes off of those horrible high sky ramps and looks pretty good with the ride height again
also that ive got her driving now so the real car can comeout to play (in the shed behind where its parked!)

also bought a set of speakers down at autobarn which where dirt cheap

some 6x9s for the parcel shelf
some 6s for the front doors
and a 10 inch woofer inclosed in a box for the boot

now gotta wait til next week for the cheap cd player on special :P

yea ive been just going mental on the thing in the last week
today sorted out most of the wiring on her and modified the 6s acc to suit the v8

also yesterday did a big clean up of the tools in the car and managed to clean out the interior sorting out the door trims now and need to cut holes for the speakers

cohen just wondering if you still have that template for the parcel shelf for a lh or even one for a lj (i have to do both lol)

still have to hook up the thermo fan and adjust this bloody shifter as atm shes about 1 gear down and isnt quite sitting in park when its mean to be

probably takle this tomorrow also in with the new oil and sparkplugs

do 350 holleys bolt onto a 2 barrel v8 manifold or do i need a bloody special bracket?

depends on holley type. but typical 350 holley needs adaptor.

o ok cause the 2barrel on her at the moment all the gaskets have gone dry n hard and fuels going everywhere lol so i think il either get a gasket set for it or go the 350 holley i have sitting away

Go a gasket kit, as you'll end up spending money chasing up adapter plates etc, it may not even have the same throttle cable end, fuel line end and whatever else. Although probably everything will match up, I'm just trying to discourage you because it's a 350 Holley.

A 390 on the other hand...

Have you got a full set of doortrims? I've got some black velour ones with speaker holes already if you're interested. Come over to my place as I've got a parcel shelf template.

And considering the distance... you should start walking about...
