While we were down in Maitland, we got to talk with an old holden dealer who was around from HQ era to VB commodore and even though he never recalls selling an L34 or an A9X, the part department and paint shop always were kept busy with customers wanting the look without the associated purchase price and insurance costs.
He did say though, if you had the money, you could get any options you wanted and any paint scheme, so the only real way to know would be the production build sheet or customer order.
But on the original question, for the LH range, I quickly check for the chrome trim on the internal of the windows, torana in cast letters across the front, thick over thin body stripe on the top bodyline, SLR's had the black under the front, sides and tail, chrome bumpers with black rubber, L34's had just the black on the back, plain chrome bumpers and the obvious flares and HQ stud pattern.
LX had the stencilled SLR5000 down the side, A9X not, but they had the look as the l34, slightly wider flares, but fully blacked out bonnet, but NO chrome, only on the hatchback and the blackouts were narrover in line with windscreen on them, both had the bonnet scoop
