pretty surprised no one has started a bathurst thread.

I have done in the past but got a bit sick of cockheads living in the past posting/bagging.

The problem with Bathurst is if us guys are not interested in Bathurst who is? I watch it with a bunch of friends but none of us pay attention and we are car mad. Till it is real cars we will have little interest and we all own a Holden or a Ford performance model or a chassis that has raced before, cheers Aaron.

It's not about the damn cars dammit! It's about the damn history and the damn effort of the damn teams/drivers/not to mention the damn challenge dammit!. This is a 1000klms race. With heritage back til1963. Names like Johnson, Moffat, Richards, Whincup, Davidson, Lowndes, Luff...........................not all are racing damn legends in YOUR damn era but legends in their own damn right dammit!

If Stevie damn Johnson won next years damn race driving a damn VW I'd be damn rapt! (dammit)

The old blokes would roll in there grave if they saw what "Australias #1 motorsport" has become.

If someone won next year in a VW off the show room floor, against various other cars off the showroom floor, i'd watch it all three days. It would be racing again.

Cheers.

I love watching this race for what it is & the history that it represents. I don't care too much for the championship in general or the other races (moreso without Murph racing fulltime) but this is the one race I always tune in to without fail. I'm a Holden guy & a proud kiwi & was gutted when Murph crashed out, but I was very happy when Winterbottom won the race also, purely for the fact that he hadn't won it before & it would have meant so much to him.

I'm happy to see the other two makes in the race & it'll be good to see them more competitive in the future, & I agree with Rob - it doesn't matter who wins in what car, it's the massive effort it takes for them to get there.

First time since I can remember I was able to sit down & watch pretty much the whole race. Sky got the rights to televise over here & it was live uninterrupted with no ads from start to finish which was brilliant!. Found it funny when normal coverage came back for you guys they'd play something like a pitstop & it made it seems like it was live but in actual fact it was done a few minutes ago... (Winterbottom's last stop I think)

I reckon Lowndes drove a very smart race at the end. I wouldn't be surprised if he intentionally let Tander pass him, because he knew he'd get an opportunity to pass them both when Tander tried getting past Bright.. great racing at the end!  :D

I've been watching start to finish for around 20 years. I have also trained the missus to sit for the whole race as well (with booze).

:3gears: Something I have also taught myself over the years... don't get so pissed you can't remember the last 20 laps!

yep...Bathurst has some great history.

But its a car race.

If anyone thought that last 20 or so laps was not a great car race/ displace of good, close, clean driving, on the edge......then...well.....maybe you dont like car racing?

p.s. I to get mighty sick of that commentator ( not Skaify or Crompton, the other one ) just prattling on all day, but hey....you can always watch the netball or a cooking show.

Its Australia's greatest race....all the teams say "dont care what happens for the rest of the year, its all just a practice for
Bathurst".....who are we to say otherwise.

After watching the race I can't help but think to myself that atleast half of the telecast was shot in the pits ! 22 laps max on a tank of juice is pretty piss poor.

I have killed far too many brain cells to remember what sort of economy they use get before they introduced the ole cane juice but I am sure it wasn't that bad.

Nah I fully I understand, was only making a statement that there never will be the 'race on Sunday, buy on Monday' type car that needs to be homologated etc etc

P.s I watched the whole race with the old boy, & usually every other round too. the last 10 laps was by far some of the best racing I've seen. Except tanders move on bright at the chase

Races are cut short to fit in with the v8 supercars time schedule, it's no different to dads group c race at sandown last year & was even worse at last years f1 GP. Races were cut short cause we were the small fry compared to the main game boys

Did they have a minimum amount of pitstops they had to do to make it fair for the new cars?

Pretty sure they did at Sandown, so assuming they did at Bathurst too.
