what is vc opted mean ?
If your still having trouble, your car is VC opted, cross reference that with 67Y

Top tag in photo
MODEL LX8VC77
The VC is used in reference to the parts sheets I posted.
VC makes the base model an SL, if it were an SS it would read LX8VD77
Hope that helps.

I am really tempted to offer to swap my spare 2 piece drivers door trims with your single piece one if you want to fit the mirrors up where they should be rather than chop that one up. Pitty you are in Mudgee, makes it a bit trickier.

Shelley,
That just looks like a general update document highlighting the changes from LH to LX. The names of the moldings are clearly wrong on it when in 2 instances they are calling the lower molding the upper molding so I wouldn't put too much faith in those descriptions. The diagrams look more detailed than the ones in the 76 workshop manual - the SL ones anyway.
Kirk,
I tried to find some closeup pics of mine using the SS mirrors in the SL holes and they are all too small to really see properly. measuring with verniers, I have 12.5mm between the back of the mirror and the alloy strip whereas the front gap is only 2.5mm - obviously the front short bit can just slide back out from under the upper trim if the mirror moves back. I went and checked a spare original SL door with the base of a broken SS mirror and it is exactly the same with the 12.5mm gap so 10mm is about spot on for the difference in hole location from an SL door to an SS. The spacing between the 2 holes is the same between the different mirrors though.
Has anyone else noticed how crap Cardomain is to use now. If I knew how to chuck facebook pics up here I would but I can't seem to get that to work.

Shelly if i had your car the first thing i'd do is put flares on it change the 253 to 308 paint it absinth yellow and black seats with grey golf ball inserts and the door trims to suit but thats just me
Mat the bottom door mould on mine is 975 mm
this was done in 1996 i cant remember why the gap is there
PS:do you have the internals for that mirror?

I thought I did have the complete broken mirror but I can only locate the 2 metal base bits at the moment and I have had a pretty good look so I think we may have lucked out. I'll let you know if I dig it up - I assume you are after the pivoting bit?
