Big bit of Poke in that Cam Jonesy,
I would like to know your inlet port sizes, when you see them next. Dave I
and increase your PSI in the pots by 50 psi too

But I am decreasing your Engine life, so maybe don't listen to me

300psi pots, is my next challenge in the 208

Just pulled the head off to check the head gasket, thought I'd measure the ports for ya Dave.
Inlet 64 x 42mm approx
Exhaust 36 x 36mm approx

Cheers

Mate Jonesy,

You Have the Biggest Ports out There for a 9 Port Red 6 Head so far,

so it is not the Head that is the Problem. Dave I

Need to Boost the Compression up,

Got to be at-least  250psi per Pot for starters. Dave i

and RPM is Power, the More the Better, 7500rpm or more between gear changes

Yeah that might be coming Dave, getting another bottom end organised now. Thinking of using some 253 lumpy tops, maybe.

Hi Ned,

I was running Leaded back then, but the E85 should do a better Job, now.

We have E85 on Tap at United Petroleum. Dave I

250psi???!!!  What fuel are you running?

Read some where, that E85 is good for up to 19:1 Compression

We have 12.5:1, 255@50 and around 40 total timing on pump. Never heard it ping

Hi James,

Can't hear the ping over the exhaust?  :stirpot:  :D

Seriously now, I've never run that sort of combo of comp/cam/timing. Out of curiosity, what calculated dynamic, and psi do you see on a comp test?

Cheers.

well here,

I had never done a Dynamic Test, and the Best all round Power with the Self Dyno Tune, at idle (650rpm) and vacuum hose on the dizzy was 17° BTDC. Dave I

Aaaah, sort of...

I've taken the head off again to find out why the head gasket isnt sealing properly, which I haven't completely put my finger on yet, but maybe the block surface wasn't smooth enough for the mls gasket. So ill deck the block again and however much I take off the block will be how much the pistons will hang out the block.
Also going to try to find some offset dowells & helicoils to move the cylinder head over 2mm.
All this while I prep another block (a black 3.3) for the rotating assembly out of this one to get rid of bore reliefs & get back my zero deck height.

And I'm prepping another (much lighter) car for the engine/trans to go in, but you'll see that pop up later...
And I've done my shoulder in so there hasn't been the progress I wanted lately.

What are the bore relifs you are getting rid of?

Is it the valve cuts on the top of the bore?

Yep, that's it. Hoping if I can move the head over I won't even need them. But this block is now really the "trial" block.

If you've milled the head and decked the block, I've heard that sometimes the head original dowels effectively become too long and hold the head up.

This is true.

Just need to drill the holes a touch further.

Could be worth checking out Joensy, sit the head on the block with no gasket and hold a light on the other side.

Cheers.

Yeah I reckon I heard about this on Kevin's thread or somewhere...
So I grabbed the micrometer & measured both dowells, front is 4mm out, rear is 6mm out.
Measured to the slight step in the dowell holes of the head & they both go to around 6mm. I'm thinking it should be ok being that once you add the thickness of the head gasket in, 1.2mm, I would have enough clearance.

Are the dowel holes in the head stepped?

Mine were.

Head was sitting on the step.

Cheers.

But.......... it's an MLS head gasket....... Don't reckon steel is going to compress that much.....

And yeah Bomber, they are stepped, that's where I measured from.

I don't do smart Rob, nothing ever comes across as you want it to on these computer thingamajigs...
Just saying the thickness they give you is a "compressed" gasket thickness, so it should still give me at least 1mm clearance. Should...
Any dramas in drilling out the head holes a smidgen??
