Hi guys, as the title says I'm painting my radiator, I have read a few different threads, and still haven't got the same answer twice. Will a normal black gloss enamel be suffice, is there a certain radiator paint, or do you use a VHT or equivalent style paint, which personally I think wouldn't help with heat transfer. But in saying that, would the general black gloss enamel fade and peel over a short period of time? Thanks guys

I'd ask the local radiator repair shop what their thoughts are. I used normal gloss black from a spray can just as a bit of a tidy up for now and it's still good a couple of years later.

There's no need for a VHT "heat" type paint, just quick dry enamel is good enough. Most new radiators come painted with a low gloss or satin black.

Standard gloss or satin black enamel  is fine .....or you could powder coat it .....I spoke with the guys at PWR Radiators and they said they could powder coat it ....

Over here at least, you can buy specific radiator paint...it is somewhat thinner to not inpede airflow through the core...

As above equiptment enamel.

In my brain matt ot satin would be better for heat transfer.... But probably not.

Cheers.

I used kitten tyre black which is a water based paint.
My father used to work at a paint factory and said this is the type of paint he used to supply the radiator shops.

Thanks guys, I might buy a can of satin gloss and give it a few costs, I have seen the Eastwood one advertised in a few threads but wondered if it was really worth the hassle of ordering it when a simple rattle can could do the job. Thanks again guys this site really is the best when it comes to advice

I 2pac'd mine. Gave it a light coat on the core. But gave the tanks a good hit.

Wouldn't 2pac be to thick? Obviously not if your having no issues with it, but I would've thought it causes heat transfer issues, interesting, it defiantly looks great in 2pac though

Radiator shop that built it said I wouldn't have any issues. Just ensure a light coat on the core.
