They went to the pits years ago when they got right into consumer products, head units and exhaust tips etc.
Just like Dick Smiths, try walking into a Dick Smiths store and buying a resistor now days.
Cheers.

We all know what repco means don't we. I called them the other day for a price on a centre bearing that goes on the drive shaft for a VX commodore and they quoted me $ 275 said I'd get back to them. Rang another auto shop called Parts for Cars and they quoted me $ 90, guess who got my business.
Cheers, John.

A bearing service may of been cheaper still?

I"ve found if your in Rip Every Poor Cunning Stunt Off and they give you the price, if you go "na mate no way" they tend to take 50% off in a big hurry.
Still not quiet on par with the smaller shops though, good to see its not just here.
Cheers.

Bomber. Thankful that Jaycar has taken up the components with a concerted push.
Still most of them are resellers and dont carry a huge range. But order early enough and you can get it next day

My local REPCO bloke behind the parts counter at least knows what he's talking about with old rides, disc brake conversions, suspension mods etc etc...
Dude loves his old cars and a yarn.
Compare that to the bullshit at Supershit and Autobarn...no comparison for mine

Fully agree, i frequent Jaycar for my little geek type "needs". Also support them as much as possible by buying all my a/v cables and the like from them as opposed to the big companies.
Trickey Dickeys used to be what Jaycar is now but more, now they are just another Harvey Normal/Good Guys/ETC
Cheers.

That actually happened months ago
If you didn't notice then I guess nothings changed yet
NAPA has owned 30% for years and completed the change over in May from memory.

Me too. I have rang Bursons and Repco a few times for prices and everytime Bursons has been cheaper. I will only go to Repco or Supercheap if Bursons are out of stock.

There were 5 major automotive suppliers in Mackay. Bursons have just bought 2 of them.

Just went to Bursons in Melton to get some brake shoes, they didn't have any in stock so went to Repco and they didn't have any either. Rang Burson's in Hoppers and they didn't have any in stock either, they said they had a pair in Campbellfield and that a truck was going there and them coming to Hoppers this arvo. They said they could put them on the truck and have them here in Hoppers by 2.30pm today, hows that service for you.

Had to ring Supercheap today as they were the only place I could get some rear drum shoes. I spoke to an Indian on the phone and he asked me what type of car they were for and I said LH Torana. He said " is that a Nissan Torana".

Supercheap bought out Marlows here in Vic.
Business strategy I reckon? Came here, opened a store or 2 hoping to be bought out?
