Hi guys,

I think I have found out what colour my car is completely by accident. Today was looking at a few cars for sale on gumtree and came across this Hq Monaro http://www.gumtree.c...oupe/1030370865

I recently got my engine bay painted the same colour as my paint tag which is Jade green (15945). The first time it was painted the colour was too dark. The car had to go back to the painter a 2nd time to be redone and the paint had to be custom matched. The car has been painted some years ago before I got it.

I realise it is difficult to compare colours on a computer but I might get a sample of this colour and just try it out. I have got a few areas that need to be touched up so will try it. This colour looks a lot closer to me than Jade green as Jade green looks a fair bit darker.

What do you guys think?

I have got a sample coming in the mail so we will soon see how close this colour is. BTW I seen that this HQ Monaro sold for around 27K on Gumtree yesterday without motor and box.

Jade green is very dark! I don't think that HQ is jade green.

Jade green is very dark, darker than the torry pictured! I think that hq is something like monteray green

The HQ is supposed to be painted Blackwatch Green. This is what I think my car is but I guess I'll see when I get the paint.

Hey Wayne, you could drive the car to a paint supply shop and they'll be able to colour match it. It's a nice green and a good looking car

FWIW there are around 14 different shades that are able to be layed down from the one can, (under coat colours, how it is thinned and even spray technique) so even if the tint is spot on it will come down to the painter to correct this every time.

Thanks Daz. I am only after some touch up paint that's an option for me. Car looks a bit better these days since I changed the rims and the interior is a work in progress.

FWIW there are around 14 different shades that are able to be layed down from the one can, (under coat colours, how it is thinned and even spray technique) so even if the tint is spot on it will come down to the painter to correct this every time.

So 2 painters could have exactly the same paint and yet they could still come out 2 different shades. I have very little hope of buying something that is a perfect match then. Cheers Terra.

the guys at the paint shop should get it close
but yes under coat etc affects it
as does how old the paint is etc etc

Better bloody not be a Ford colour, i'll get out there with the belt sander quick smart. I agree Rockoz it does look very close.

I agree that the Jade green definitely looks darker. I've got a sample of the Blackwatch green coming today so will post back when I try it. The HQ looks almost identical to my car in colour though, so I think if the Blackwatch green isnt a match I am confident it will be very close. The Blackwatch green is a metallic but I am not sure about the Sherwood green. I guess metallic can be added to any colour paint though.

My first car was an LC 2 door. Was originally a light green with white roof but had been painted Sherwood green when I got it. Never looked right.

I would have said yours was Jade green and the monaro Monteray green mate. Even different brands of paint will be different in the same colour. I thougth Blackwatch green was darker again more blackish? I am still trying to determinme what colour mine is. Think it is either Panama or Jamaica Lime. Need to park next to a car of the same colour to get an indication...

Mate yours is Barbados green.

Mine is definitely not Jade green as jade green is darker even though my tag is jade green. I am leaning towards british racing green with a metallic added these days.

I'm gonna go down to the paint shop on Monday and get some made up, see how I go.
