Dave Mawer didn't start making two piece wheels until 1969, and I am sure that his first wheel was similar to you see on the LJs and Moffats Phase 3, but with four spokes and less bolts through the rim halves. (I think these were mainly for Clubman racers) Unless they are a prototype of some kind because they are a similar design.
There were however dozens of people making wheels in Australia in the late '60s - early '70s. Rod Dale, Tasman, Keel Wheels, CAC, Lynx, Cairns. Aunger were making two piece wheels back to 1968, and Tony Simmons had centres cast up for his wheels by Arthur Glassons foundry back in 1967.

A couple more ads. It is interesting to note that he only does 10, 13, and 15" diameter.

In the August 1975 ad above you can see they only had 8 bolts at that stage.
I've also found another mob from back then called Dical who made a copy of the Mawer.

Maybe people added more bolts to them???? This pic was taken August 1974 and you can see that the rears have eight bolts, but the fronts have more.

I put up an add on …’ClassicAustralian mag wheels asking for abit of info and Paul has replied..he mentions he was talking to Dave and said he drills the bolt holes to 5/16 and 1/4’ holes in between 5/16.i was actually trying to find that open wheeler above with the 4 spoke mawers thinking that was in the 60 s.
