Its the ludicrous and self serving blame game with no substantiation needed, all you need is the media report suspicion and innuendo.
As Holden is still manufacturing the full story and grit of the behind closed door conflicts and disagreements have yet to see the light of day. These story's will appear once the inevitable wind-up and change over occurs with many of the design and development management moving on.
I realise many people take their support of Holden much like many do with a football team, however that's not my nature because I call it as I see it. It's my opinion, I just choose not to blindly BS that a car is good just because of a badge. The last thing I do is go in with my eyes half closed. Now in saying that anyone who has read what I have said on my favourite Holden's the A9X hatch or HK GTS will know I regularly call them a POS because they are in so many aspects. (more so and logically now we are in 2013 of course)
But Christ all mighty pull the covers off them on any day and I still get a chubby. They look bloody amazing and in 2013 its no issue for me to make them stop, go and turn far better than any new 2013 performance car. However if the car is butt ugly and plastic like any dunny ....... then its clear that no amount of dramatic plastic surgery is ever going to make a dunny look good.
It will forever remain that boring fat plastic pig faced taxi with a half ass boob job. (sorry dunny owners but that is imo and its my money) My attitude is like say me looking at Miranda Kerr, (far too young for me but) even if I was in my 20's I would just keep walking and not look at her twice even in a bikini. Horses for courses on the criteria of looks.
I am just not a 4 door guy of any make, brand, style or shape, it has nothing to do with it being a dunny or a Ferrari, Lambo or Hyundai. I disliked the big fat whales from HQ-WB for the same reason as the dunnys, much like I don't like the look of the taxi A9X or L34. That's not to say I like all 2 doors either as cars like the R35 might go very well but talk about a hell of an eyesore to look at.
I am by the same token NOT THE REGULAR CAR MARKET. I am that 0.001% of people that are far better to hotrod a car than buy a commonly available vehicle. In all of this thread I don't profess to have any personal insight into why buyers buy what they do because I wouldn't buy 99.999999% of those cars. But I do know business and the car business is only about one thing THE NUMBERS.
The behind closed door story of what happened here to Holden might make for a far better read than many are currently thinking. I think 4 Corners in 2017 might be able to do this story some justice with some teeth not this other media blame game. The issue is an issue of decades of culture in all the taxpayer handouts and protectionism since manufacturing started in Oz. This will go right to the top both in Government , Holden and in Detroit and I would say this should have died at least by 2005.

now it's just because you dont like em.... fair enough..... why didn't you just say so, I can understand you not liking them, because a good friend of mine payed $97,000 on a Lexus 350 RX, and his wife picked it out..(thought she had something special for Tennis day) and in my opinion it's just an over priced piece of shit Toyota, dressed up so people who cant afford a Merc or a BMW think that they have made it..... and i don't like them... so fair enough.. but don't blame the failure of Holden on the basis that you don't like them.... and you can call it a Whale, or a Dunny door all you want... it gives your comments so much more credibility ... said now one ever ... your opinion is noted and accepted, but no more important or informed than mine... Cars to you & me are just a matter of choice... and who knows, maybe there's some crazy people out there like me that think the VF Commodores are the BOMB...... and who knows, just maybe the VF GTS will be the next HK Monaro or A9X, remember it is the MOST POWERFULL Australian Car ever ... time will tell, but one thing is for certain, a Lexus will never be ............ cheers Ian

Norhern Europe is overrun with girls far more attractive and naturally glamorous.
Unfortunately cultural background is of far more importance than classical beauty, talent and inherent style these days in the greater scheme of things.

No, not at all. It's just when I went to uni, I studied part time. This meant I worked a proper job 40 hrs a week & then went to uni 4 nights a week. As such, I had no time for all of the demonstrations & other goings-on that the full time students were into. This was the early 70s !!
Rightly or wrongly I had no interest in politics & philosophy & the like & besides, the students involved were usually from the humanities faculties, like arts & law etc. Don't get me started on that lot.
Anyway, as an engineer, you learn to grin & bare it. You learn after a while that no amount of noise making or hostility towards any one group or person ever gets any gain, in the long run. Maybe an engineering degree gives one nothing more than a very long fuse.

frOck my hilux rocks. Its so much beter than the Holden ute. Just did 2600km across some of the roughest roads in Australia with about 300kg in the back towing all the way and it never missed a beat.
Was going over wallows that big it bottomed out a few times, just kept on keeping on.
Thank god i brought a Hilux and not the under engineered VF ute, it likely wouldnt have made the journey.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid because it has 4 wheels and is proven in a drag race and around barbs is faster than the generals genuine L34 taxi. That's not why. It was 200% size related. The world had put the really big sedans in the niche segment a decade ago. My love or hate for the dunny has sweet F/A to do with Holden choosing to continually release an enormous FLOP that was polar opposite to what the market wanted to buy.
Yes the big dunny killed Holden and GM new it was time to let Holden go into the pine-box so it could become a worldwide global entity to stay competitive. Holden has never been a world brand and never was going to be.
