HI,

I have a set of king springs in my LX.

I need the front to sit about 1 inch lower.

I have a KHFL 15 (SLR 5000/A9X height according to the catalogue)

I was wondering if the KHFL 14 is even lower?

I have the complete Hopper stopper brakes and they include HQ stub axles I think.

I have got in contact with a King Spring supplier and the KHFL 15 is the lowest springs they do on a LX.

Is it worth looking at a different brand springs or should i just send my springs away and get them compressed.

Any feed back will be great.

Thanks

Check some other threads. I think there is some information about this on the HQ brake tutorial thread.

I think lovells springs are a bit shorter.
Most matched pairs will sit the front higher than the back. I think this was the factory stance for torana?
Pedders are rated in hight from the rim to gaurd. Could check out them online and see if they help u.

Are you 100% sure you've got your springs seated properly?

Sometimes the fronts don't seat right and the car sits up about 30mm...

How do you know if there sitting right?
The left side spring scrapes in its seat at top.

Pull the shockers and get your head underneath and look up with a torch.

Is it common for the front springs to not sit properly?
Even if the spring is not sitting in properly won't it adjust and fall back in place once test driven?

Yes it's common. You'll have to pull the springs to swap them anyhow so why not just check?

If your springs are in correctly and you have torana stub axles, you can swap to HQ stubs to get another inch lower.

yes its really easy to not put them in properly, no they won't 'drop' in if they are not seated correctly.

I have KHFL14's in mine.  They lower the car one inch lower than standard.  The right height in my eyes.

Yep pic above is about the same as mine.  I have always fitted these springs to my Torry's or the lovels 1 inch lower set they supply.

Thanks for the pic. I don't get it, I have the KHFL15 which are the A9X height and I have the HQ stub and my front end is higher than yours.
There is a pic of my car at the top of this post and compare it with your car, mine sits higher.

Two options.

1. Your springs are seated wrong

2. You have torana stub axles

Are you certain of either of the above??

I'm going to have a look at the springs this week.
I just had a look at the hopper stopper catalogue and they say they use HQ stubs.
How do U know there HQ subs?

Did you fit the hoppers kit or buy the car with them fitted?

Side by side with torana they are obvious. Not obvious on the car.

Nar I fitted the hopper stopper on.
They give you an engineering report with there kit and the report says that they use HQ stubs.
Can this info be not correct?

Did the kit include the stub axles?
What I'm asking is did you pull the torana stubs off and fit the hoppers supplied stubs?

I'm sure they know what they're supplying.

If you've got the old torana stubs you could pop a disc off and compare. Very obvious the difference in ride height

I reckon either your springs are seated wrong or the A9X ones are 4WD versions and the KHFL14's sit much lower.
