Solid rewrite of the info DJ, quick question, are the water neck mounts the same and interchangable between the red, blue and black heads?

Will just add too this, YT did cast their own heads in steel back in the day, we also reworked and reco'd a lot of factory heads to the same specs.
I will see if I can find any info relating too ID, but the standard line here is that no, there is no records.

THanks for that.
The heads pictured above as YT heads are Holden castings you have modified.
Cheers.

Not sure if you mentioned it or not, just wondering what the differences between a standard steel 12 port head and say, a YT alloy head? Are they the same chamber design?
Also, good work on the thread, heaps of info. I'm sure everyone appreciates your work.
Thanks, Ryan.

No i didnt mention it. I dont have a YT alloy sitting infront of me to compare.
As i said from the outset the only thing im going to include in the official parts is what i can prove with the stuff i have right infront of me, no heresay.
Donate me a YT alloy and i'll do a comparo
Cheers.

Just to be sure this isn't some kind of a conspiracy going on between you and YT I think it would be best if I am supplied with one as well to provide a second opinion.

Hey Bomber is it worth mentioning the valve guide boss size change on the early hc red heads for the teflon valve guide seals on the lc xu1s, not sure what the 202s had
#115 _Bomber Watson_

I had absolutely no idea about that, and nothing in my collectoin suggests the change, but its in the bucket list to look into.
Cheers.

heers a pic to add to your list, not the best but you can see the valve guide seal on one boss and removed on the other, casting number is hard to read think its 2815843 date code g30

Yes, but not quiet as you see it.
Early reds with adjustable rockers use a different lengh pushrod to the late reds and everything after with bridged rockers.
Run the pushrods to suit the head/rocker style.

186 run slightly longer pushrods than 202's.

Thought that was the case, but three tallies in i didnt want to comment incase i got it backwards haha.
And, not nit picking, but that should be "186 style head with adjustable rockers runs a slightly longer pushrod than a 202 style head with bridged rockers"
Cheers.

As far as 9 port goes most people tend to use the early version with the extra drain holes.
Thats what mine will be running when its back together.
Apart from that TMK there isnt a huge difference, probably more variance in core shift during casting than actual intentional changes, but someone with more porting knowledge will probably pipe up and tell me im wrong.
Cheers.

Just reminding you DJ:-
http://www.gmh-toran...e-5#entry835601
I would like to add a way of sorting out what you have already,
plus extra information, as you have done already:-
is to use your Photobucket Picture URL id numbers in a way,
that when posted as such in a Post, so that when you need to change a picture to a better one in that post later,
you give the new picture the same URL in the Photobucket account as the one in the post already.
That way a picture will change in that particular post automatically.
So the reason for saying this, is so you could have a Picture of a Part with a corresponding casting number,
and have a few of these down the page, and when some better Photo's come along for a certain casting number,
you will be able to change that particular Photo to suit.
Never mine me blabbing, and has worked for me in the past, the 101 Head Thread is looking good in any case.
