I didn't really care either way on the LH or RH drive version of lights as it doesn't really matter here and I have never had US spec lights in the car (or other cars) here in the past..

Euro spec will most likely be left-hand-drive also.

Good enough point.. As I mentioned, I wasn't all to concerned if they were RH or LH rated when I bought them. With so much traffic here and people around, it really never seemed to be an issue, ha ha.
Yanks have never heard of mollyduker crescents or screwdrivers they always doing things backwards.
Great thing about LA is no shortage of traffic, all you need to do is throw a few spits of rain on the road to find a use for your parking lights (no matter which road you might be travelling on).

We are way, way, way below normal here actually...last year was a record low rain fall amount..like 3 1/2" the entire year. And so far looking bad too. January is normally our 2nd wettest month (behind Feb) and been stone dry this year so far and none in sight the next couple weeks..

I can't remember what year it was but it rained when I was coming back down from a day at 6 Flags and I drove straight into the LA car park. It appeared to me that everyone in LA basically decided to park once they had to turn on the wipers !!!
WTF it was total chaos...... it was like nobody new what to do when it rained.

Are they a Halogen H4 flat lense, or a H4 sealed lamp?
I am trying to get the car back to a factory/dealer delivered 1977 SS Coupe as much as I can.
Thanks

can I ask a stupid question, what lights are equiped with LX SS hatchback.
Are they a Halogen H4 flat lense, or a H4 sealed lamp?
I am trying to get the car back to a factory/dealer delivered 1977 SS Coupe as much as I can.
Thanks
99% sure that the SS had H4 as standard fitment and not sealed beams. A9X's also had them as standard fitment too (both 2 & 4 door variants). However they could be optioned on any LX variant. My SLR had them equipped from factory but its built date was September 77, right at the beginning of A9X production.

The LX parts manual lists a standard sealed beam and a quartz halogen sealed beam. There is a hand written notation that mentions SS next to the quartz halogen sealed beam. No mention of a unsealed headlight with a H4 globe.
"50 Years of Holden" by Dr Terry states the following under minor features on page 194.
. 4-door A9X gained quartz halogen headlights (already standard for the SS hatchback).
In the following Dr Terry contradicts his book. It is possible that Dr Terry is referring to the sealed quartz halogen as a H4.
I hope I've finally sorted this query out. I've gone back through all the relevant literature I have & found the following:-
Officially at release, the only LXs to get H4 headlights as standard were the SS models prior to A9X introduction. At that time, it was then made standard on the SL/R 5000 as well (which were A9X by then, anyway).
They were however made available as a factory option on any LX as P.O. number TT5.

So I could use H4 SEALED BEAMS and i would not be found that this would be wrong by the experts. Trying to find H4 Halogen type lamps are getting too hard to obtain..
I would love to get Halogen kind, but modifying the radiator support or the lamp housing a pain.
thanks

I have purchased the Hella 1058 H4 lamps as recommended, thank you very much, and would like to know if there should be a Left and Right hand side lamp. The right hand lamp would be the correct way up with the wide beam section facing the center of the car. (Which I have two of). The left hand side to be fitted as per the directions would need to be installed upside down to have the wide beam section point to the centre of the car.
Am I misunderstanding something here, or just over thinking and just put the LHS upside down with ?
It just looks ugly the wrong way up, and the wide beam section will not have the same light projection to each other.
Hope this makes scence.
Thanks
