Beautiful looking cars, enjoyed the article and photos, just one thing I should clarify for you. Your race car is most certainly not the Charlie O'Brien L34 as I have owned it foe the last ten years. Having said that I'm interested in finding out which race car your L34 was. Can show you some photos of the trick little bits and modifications on mine if you are interested. Cheers,               Grant

you lucky lucky man
normally don't but i feel a tinge of envy , jealousness now
great looking car by the way!

referring to the figures in the article of how many have survived, how accurate would the figure of 30 to 40 be that are unmolested with factory original driveline and does anyone have an idea of how many of those survivors would be so original that they have never had mechanical repairs done to engine, gearbox and diff? ie still retain all the original factory internals

One of mine does, and it drives as good as it left the factory, (the few Torana enthusiasts that have driven it claim so as well).

Not many with original spark plugs and leads and oil and filter

Hi Outer here have certainly received some wonderful follow up and contact in piecing together the puzzle of how my hdt delivered car fits into the picture. Luke has been contacted and given me numbers of people who wish to remain anonymous who no what happened to vehicles who were the property of GMH and were disposed of for cash out the back door. As i have been given names but with no proof and these people who are well and truly alive will not want their names associated with anything shady are not likely to come forward. It was hard enough selling an  car that had anything to do with racing let alone a damaged one that had been stripped of its components. A repair was done to the damage on right front, repainted back to original Salamanca red and damage on roof hidden by a vinyl roof. Luke West while at lunch received a missed call from a guy saying he was glad to see his old car alive and in the magazine but you have my name wrong it,s Davis not Davies so we are looking to contact an Ian Davis. He said ring him back but did not leave a number and as Lukes desk phone does not have the caller ID number retained we are so close but still none the wiser. So if anybody out there who thinks they may know the whereabouts of this person either get them to contact LUKE again or myself on 0417829987 text or leave a message and i will do the ringing . The Torana community is wide and i appreciate any help Davis is like Smith but i believe he lives on the Qld coast so any leads would be gratefully received ,thanks Wayne

Mine has only ever had consumables replaced. Obviously the wheels and drop tank aren't stock but the originals of both are in the shed. Motor gearbox and diff (3.08) are untouched until now as I am in the process of replacing all of the engine gaskets as a precaution, (heads) and to stop a couple of oil leaks. Thread coming soon with photos of internals.
