So i was havng a browse today at bunnings, and what do you know? They sell disposable co2 bottles. Interesting stuff, particularly the way the advertise it as lasting 3 times longer, but having a greater cooling affect which requires higher power output. I might grab one an give it a go. Ill set it up with a gasless mig i have spare. What do i need to do to hook it up apart from gas wire? Do i need a different nozzle or special gas fittings? Does to plastic tube from the mig push over a barbed fitting or something?
Cheers

Usually get a little tap assembly with the mig that screws on to the bottle.
Then the hose connects to that.
The only thing you will need to do is change the polarity.
Two terminals usually bottom front of wire compartment.

I was looking at some mig 'gas' tips next to it i was a bit confused.
I wonder if the bottle comes with its own reg? I dont think my big reg will fit it...
I think ill give it a go for no particular reason. Is 130amp enough juice for co2?

Wont come with its own regulator.
Priced one of them once.
Was about the same price as the regulator for the real bottles.

Wow probably not worth it then.
Does the plastic hose push onto a barb on the reg?

Yeah that seems to be the go. Just thought it would be a good way to test co2 see if it suits me.

an oxy regulator can be used for argon.

I have an old CIG reg with AIR marked on both dials. What would this have been for?

Compressed air

Really? I know its pretty obvious but i thought being made by cig it would be for gas. Didnt know they did compressed air. Besides, its very unlike any air reg i've seen. Maybe before my time

Compressed air is a gas.

I don't know if they actually fill atmosphere air we breathe into cylinders, I do believe they have a machine that separates oxygen, nitrogen etc from air. If you are that interested I can ask for you.
I know some of gasses they do come in liquid or powder form and are converted or broken down into gas.
FWIW most gasses compress into liquid anyway, depends how far it is compressed.
I even seen medical grade argon two days ago.
First time I've seen that gas used for medical reasons.

Well, its not a liquid or a solid....its just primary school science.

Have used compressed air in a bottle to blow pull lines into conduit.
Its just high pressure air.
Pretty sure some race teams used it years ago to run tools in the pits.
Useful when no electricity to run a compressor.

I saw those. It's a class c bottle.
How big is class c in kg? Or compared to 6kg class E?

Its still not huge.
Says its 3 times the gas of the disposables.
Think its comparable in physical size to the disposables.
Thats what Im reading into the description anyway.
