I've seen Triangle pieces of 3mm plate welded inside the little Torana on the floor, horizontally,

and the vertical beams to the floor, everywhere where two frames meet on a Drag Car. Dave I

No cage & no chassis kit. I did stitch weld the chassis rails to floor & the door & window openings which may have helped. Still registered & a complete car, only drop the exhaust & fit the slicks for the track. 12.51@108mph out of the poor old 202.

Holy crap you must have some serious work to
that 202 or it's on the giggle to lift those wheels. Excellent work. I've got a efi 304 with a fair cam in mine. It's been in there for around 15 years driven when ever I can every weekend fully
engineered as an 8. I have not chassie kit and
the car is not twisted yet, well i think its not. But Im make a kit now too I think it's time.

So at a Gorilla it's fair price for something New in condition, Be prepared to do some "extra" work to fit it in there and once that's correctly taken care of = Tis a cheap "off the shelf" upgrade......

Im digging up a very old thread rather than start a new one -

I'll hopefully be taking my LC off the road in the next month or two to begin a V8 conversion with VN running gear - engine, 4 speed auto, and diff.

Rather than using the CRS chassis kit an engineering place is going to fabricate and weld in some chassis rails instead, but I was thinking it would still be a good idea to copy some of the smaller parts from the CRS kit.

Another forum member was kind enough to send me a copy of the install instructions but as you all know they were written by a 3 year old and are not very helpful.

Can anyone please confirm exactly what the 2 small plates are (purple arrow) and what they do / where they go?

And also the 4 small rods (orange arrow) which are meant to be wishbone strengthening rods???

Any info or pics would be great! Thanks in advance.

Hi Fazz,

the description at the website, doesn't have any reference either, hmm.  :furious: :-

but the angle of those wires would fit the wishbone lower angles by the looks.

I suspect the two small plates are fitted inside the car at the rear. Then there are two bolts either side at the rear that go through the rear cross brace, through the plates at the rear of the chassis kit, though the body then through the plates inside the car.

This picture from the torviki shows the plates in the general area.

You will find some more pictures in these links

The LX kit uses a similar setup with the plates at the rear. I have the LX chassis kit in on my hatch.

The rods are to strengthen the lower wishbone, they are welded on both sides of the lower wishbone.

Hi I'm in the process of doing the same conversion you are thinking of.
The plates sit in the rear foot Wells and are effectively big washers with two bolts that go through to the cross member that goes from one rail to the other, not the gearbox cross member but the one that comes with the kit.
The rods are as you say wishbone strengthening rods and are welded in to the return fold front and back of the wishbone. If I can figure out how to post pics via mobile I will put some up
Scott

Awesome guys, thanks for the replies.

So I wont need the plates since I'll be getting custom chassis rails, but the wishbone rods might not be a bad idea.

Pics would be great Scott if you get the chance.

Cheers.
