Don't know. I have never had it apart. Looks standard from the outside, (cast iron centre)  but I don't know anything about them either.

With the Momos and the paint colour I wonder if they used a Brock for their prototype?

Looks like it.

The 87 Bob Jane car ended its days being converted to Auscar 88? then crashed and written off early to mid 1990s?

Im sure there was an article in Street Machine hot holdens saying how one of the Auscars was the ex Bob Jane 87 car.

Rothmans VL (Moffat / Harvey) was white / blue with gold striping. that blue / yellow one is a TWR one (built where i do not know) that was raced in 87(?) WTCC in Europe. I think repainted and came out here for 88.

That looks to me to be the twr herbi clips car. Walkinshaw had a mixture of hdt and roadways parts ie engines when the ran the first brock VL group A.

Anyone got any ideas on what gearbox Grice / Roadways used during this era? I know the Brock cars had specially constructed Getrag gearboxes but I'd like to know what alternatives there were.

A question for Flavio; How similar were Grice's VK 86 (Bathurst winner) and his 87 VL? Much difference or similar?

From Flav:

They all had 9" diffs around that time and the housing was a custom cut down unit with axle flanges that adapted a harrop cv unit and adjustable wedges for camber and had harrop axles with harrop carrier for the Richmond gear

Boxes were Hollinger 5sp but getrag were used up to 85 from memory

The Hollinger 6sp came in 89 @ $16000

I haven't check in for a while so I'd thought I'd ask about the engine components that were allowed after homologation for the VL SS in January 1987.

Could someone give an idea as to what block was used. I ask because I've seen a few pics of the Brock built engines and one Perkin's engine and they look to be painted red. Are these older red 308 blocks or were they the modern black block and what mods were allowed?

Also, what about sump and pick up, crank, rods (A9L?), pistons, heads (what are B cast heads?), rockers and covers (modified or standard?).

Also, was the carby a Quadrajet and the inlet manifold factory Holden?

Thanks, Bruce
