Pulled the pick up out of my tank to rectify the transmitter for the gauge but noted the pick up screen split.

Cant see that this is replaceable, anyone made a new one or have any ideas to share on these?

Carefully melt it back together with a soldering iron where it's split.

Thanks Brad, I thought it might have been metallic mesh.
Have never seen refurbished transmitter/pick up units for sale.

Mine was split. I melted it carefully back together. Came up a treat!

Did mine today Brad, not neat as yours though.
Going by the multi meter in the pic you checked the resistance.
Mine goes from 75 down to 15 ohms. Is that about right?
I did notice the reading to be a little erratic when I run it through its range, increasing the tension didn't seem to make much improvement.
( where ever it stopped through that range it read a normal figure )

Yeah mate. Those readings sound correct. Perhaps try flushing some contact cleaner and some deoxit spray into the sender.

Dime a dozen, same as commodore VB to VL carby. (some efi as well) maybe more.

I think there are a couple of different diameter pickup pipes so check and know what size you have before you go wrecker hunting.

it was not sold as a separate part (part of the sender) some were nylon some were metal screens.

Cheers

Thanks Balfizar, mine is fixed and installed.

Though if it fails me it is good to know this info, I reckon 80% + of the pick up filter screens are busted and the owners would never know.

took 10 cars to get 4 good ones, 2 to replace my busted ones and 2 spares.

Cheers
