Great Man Gene,

I am looking for the PCD on the net, man there is no info out there hey.

I may have to do it the hard way tomorrow too.

what you do is, screw a tight bolt into the harmonic ballancer that has a round/smooth shank on the bolt protruding the harmonic ballancer,

then we measure the shank thickness and divide it by two ( A1 write that down ),

then measure with a vernier from the shank to the outside of the ballancer ( A2 write that down ),

measure the outside diameter of the harmonic ballencer ( A3 and write that down ),

So the P.C.D. = A3 - (( A2 - A1 ) x 2 )

Hi All,

Now I thought this was going to be easy to measure up and found that my Harmonic Ballancer drilled P.C.D. maybe different to others,

as mine is short of a nominal Fractional P.C.D. size by 0.6mm. Dave I

So my Guess is, the Holden Red 6 Harmonic Ballancer is 2 7/8" P.C.D.

anyone able to clarify this to be correct, or to be corrected?

Found this great Chart - http://www.marylandm...h/cvtchtfdm.htm

Gday all, picked this retainer plate up today off evil bay..🤔 dont see them around much so, figured what the hell.

I did look onto the Dellow web page..
I understand the pressed steel plates are no longer produced...
But even the billet ones, there did not appear to be a current listing for them, the billet ones I was never interested in anyway..

Refreshing this thread a little.
With the weight of a Dellow retainer plate.

Also, what colour were these painted back in the day? The colour of the balancer they were fitted to?

I have seen images of them Black or Chevy Orange.

Chevy orange is for chevys, not Holden built engines. Rocket red is the GMH colour. I have a feeling that i know a guy who had an original 1 of those retainer plates in the past. I will ask & text you, if i find out an answer Jason.

Thanks Gary.
Please correct me if wrong, on Holden Engine Reds, by colours - not specifically by years.

EH began as Holden Red,
then i though HR went to Rocket Red,
later red motors then went to chevy orange colour.

The EH were definitely a darker red, less yellow, more black in the mix.

To the best of my knowledge these retainer plates were paint rocket red with the engine. I would assume that they were painted once fitted to the harmonic balancer and therefore the balancer was unpainted behind them but I'm only guessing with that statement thinking that from a production line point of view that would be the quickest way to do it.

Hi Cheers all,
TBH, the rocket red i came to know by name was probably around the HD-HR (X2 engine red as dave quoted above 8929) era.
I honestly never heard of the HK rocket red,(probly had my head in the sand then).

Makes sense the retainer plate painted the balancer colour.

Anyways live n learn :)

Jaso.

Jaso, in theory, if you had bought a spray can labelled as Rocket Red then you had bought Holden HK Rocket Red.

That said it is probable the colour may have varied slightly between manufacturers.

So what colour was Holden X2 Engine Red? Is it closer to the old EH red or the Rocket red? (Which was still being used with VK in 1985)  I just had a quick google and it came up with a dozen different shades.
