Hi guys.

Ive had this sitting in the shed for a few months now so thought I should put up a few pics as plenty of people on this forum are probably familiar with these old pocket rockets...

Its a V6 GT Capri. Peppermint green, rare auto, all matching numbers and is completely original in every way. Great survivor car. I plan to pull it to bits and get it resprayed and give the engine a freshen up, as well as get the interior retrimmed. Plans are to keep it all original.

It has had 3 owners, with the last one being a bloke who has had it sitting in his shed for 17 years without driving it, with plans to restore it but as we all know these things often get waylayed.. It has an amazing collection of detailed receipts and a full documented history, so looking forward to getting into it, once I sell my commodore....

Also bought a cheap rust bucket for spares in case i need stuff, but mainly for the windscreen!

Only thing it really needs is a set of UC tail lights.

This car belonged to an ex boss of mine back in 2006. If I recall, it didnt actually have a wiring loom as such in it. All of the electrics were controlled via fiber optics.

Pretty rare these days, especially unmolested (v6 models)

Should be a good little project.

Looks pretty straight too!

I nearly bought one when I was just 18... weeks before buying my HJ. Bright yellow with black yinyl roof, V6 5 speed. Couldn't get any insurance for it cause... it had alloy wheels on it!

My dad bought one of these new. It was burn't orange, 4-slot V6 GT  with a black interior.

We had it for 6 mths & he handed it back. It was full of rust!

I have fond memories of me & my brother doing donuts in the car park while mum was at bingo. :)

Cool score! *suscribed*

I also have owned a burnt orange V6 GT Capri quite some time ago, was a great little car! I'll locate a few old pics of it and post them up when I get time.

Beautiful base for a SBC transplant. In the late 80s one of these was melbournes fastest street reg car. Dark green with stone guarded engine bay. Then there was Bob Pinnells 351 powered beast. Fond memories.

The George Hadadd Capri was a standout too back in the day. Used to know a guy in the old days with a blue 302 capri which went okay and another mate of mine used to own a red 2ltr capri also which went okay for a rust bucket. :D

Cheers guys.

Yep keeping it all original. Its way too much of a survivor car to molest. I cant afford an XU-1 so i suppose ill have to go with the ford equivalent....

Once i sell my commodore ill have the shed space and hopefully some cash to begin working on this baby.

Once the LX is up and running of course... Must get the priorities right!

^ because they might have won?..maybe..perhaps..not likely...besides, using the FIORDE word in a sentence can result

in severe ramifications from other students..i.e..barking dogs that bite.

nearly bought 1 of them  little buggers back in the early 80"s.They were thin on ground back then :)

I honestly think we shoudl be past the whole Ford vs Holden thing in this day and age....We should have been 20 years ago.

Cheers.

Agreed Bomber. Especially as neither companies will be a local concern in the traditional sense soon enough.

A cool car is a cool car, is a cool car...

We should but a large percentage of car dudes are meat heads.

In my experience, the Ford guys are usually more mature when it comes to Holden than the Holden guys are to Ford.  Some of the shit I hear when out and about makes me cringe.

Just recently had a rather 'mature' gentleman in a silver XR Falcon give me a wave on the road. Also a bloke in a black Mustang, and of course younger guys in the old Valiants. Yes, I wave back, long over the old 'mines best' crap.

I still like to give my mates heaps about their Frauds and they like to give me heaps about my traitorous ways (We all had V6 Capris since we were young - mine on P plates!)

This shot taken recently - my mates V6RS in the background - as he is driving my Torrie for a test

Good days indeed

"We all had V6 Capris since we were young - mine on P plates!"

I have a 38 DGMS (Manual choke V6 capri carb) fitted to my 202. Goes really well and has a surprisingly loud induction sound for a single carb.

Did you guys ever muck around with enlarging/boring out the venturis on the carb? pretty common practice in the UK for historics racing and apparently can make quite a noticeable difference. I've been doing quite a bit of reading up on this and knife edging butterflys ect and would be keen to hear if you guys experimented with any of this.

I also have to come out and say that i also owned one but sold it and bought a V8 torana when 19. My mates nick named it the cadbury,s capri because it left a few brown stains on the undies after driving in it
