A shot of some of the rust that's been cut out so far, removed the exhaust today also.

Both sides of the floors are now done, fully butt welded and spot welded, ground down and almost ready for the final coating, rhs pillar is rust free now I think, used a mates boroscope to look in all the usual rust spots and it looks good, will use late model type rubber bungs to fill the hole I drilled so I can use rust prevention in the future. Found an interesting colour under the black paint in the rest of the floor pan, it appears to be a pink colour, it goes right out to the edge of the sills and then disappears, could this be the original colour? also filled all the excess holes in the dash from all the switches the drag racing guy had in there, wiring looks a mess, may try find another harness,i will coat the floor in black next week I think, underneath looks very good, you will hardly notice the join of the new floors, I will attack the lower left hand 1/4 panel tomorrow,

Why do you think it wasn't pink? one of the chips on the boot hinge is pink underneath. original undercoat was probably a brown colour? you are hitting grey. there is a pink register, lots got resprayed, maybe why the tag is missing.
maybe LJ,s had a different colour undercoat?

Hi Bryan, it's not that I don't think it wasn't pink, I don't know for sure what the original colour was, but would like to find out though. Pink's not really my colour, so it will be blue either way, besides there is a pink one near me already. cheers Greg

Having a closer look at the pink colour it is definitely not strike me pink as it seems metallic in colour, how many pinks are there in torana's?

Orchid Metallic would be correct for a late '73 Torana.

hope that works, though not the right colour, there are other colour registers in the same place, just owners registers.
I think they used to spray batches of the same colour at the same time, maybe compare your details against known numbers?
The floor pan would have the original colour from the factory, but you would have to work out if it was original or not?
maybe some blue under that pink?

I see the chip exposed pink you're talking about on the boot hinge Bryan. Looks like it could be Orchid Metallic but hard to be definite.

yeah, I'm thinking orchid metallic by what I've seen so far, will dig deeper when I get back from work.

Been pretty busy at work lately so not a lot done, got he box back the other day, a mate took it apart and went through it, say's it looks good, so I have just repainted it and put it back together again, I had a go at doing the lower dash and gauge cluster also, they came out ok, dash pad next, but there not cheap, about $440 to get recoed, but will need doing eventually. have begun the body work as a break away from he rust repairs, getting a little tedious,
