I was looking through some of my old Australian Muscle Car Magazines today, and saw this letter in the Muscle Assist section, it was in issue # 35 from 2008

Cool Information there Steve,
like a MC7 stamped on a Tag means a T10 transmission and was only fitted into a Genuine GMH A9X.

MC7 was never stamped into any production A9X road car, however this is a prototype. I saw this car in 2006 and it's the real deal.

Red, I never took much notice when I saw J591125 a while back (it is local to me), if it still has its original M21 stamp on the body plate or if it was also changed when fitted with a T10 basically when it was new. This car is the car built for CAMS scrutiny for the 1977 Hang Ten 400 (Sandown). Can you remember seeing its body plate? I should have taken more notice but there was a far more interesting (to me) car next to it at the time.

The 4 door prototype slr5000 that went through engineering and had the floor pan modified pre production to fit rear diff the same way that purple 76 car was done a couple years ago then sold but i understand the gold ss we are talking about from Darwin which came to our nationals some years ago had bango diff but engineering did the exersize on the gear box Mc7 and G70 were put on new build plates so they could be sold off so 2 very interesting cars both pre A9X production that have survived. Both owners Rod and Noel are very lucky

I can't remember the PSN off the top of my head, but if thats the gold car you are talking about it had MC7 when I saw it.

Surely you're not talking about the purple car that sold on AMCS a couple of years ago that caused such a big discussion on here.

And was the Purple SLR5000 from Brisbane a A9X Prototype ?

This thing?

Considering a few years before that it didn't have any of that gear in it, and the letter from Holden didn't state it was prototype and stuffed up the codes, I'd say no.

Red Hatchback. I think it is the second production A9X hatchback.

Yeah the one you posted the Link to, Thanks Red

Its M21. If it's got a T10 it was fitted later or by the dealer

I know the owner bought an A9X floor pan of a well known guy who wrecked a A9X so you guess what happened (maybe he needed a spare}???

who in there right mind would wreck an a9xI know the owner bought an A9X floor pan of a well known guy who wrecked a A9X so you guess what happened (maybe he needed a spare}???

I think you are right that it was fitted later (but so was the one in the prototype), but not by the selling dealer - it was done by either GMH or HDT (or on behalf of them) as it was the car kept on hand at the A9X's race (debut?) at Sandown 1977, afaik for CAMS scrutiny and that included the T10. It even says Hang Ten on the A9X report sorted by PSN (the one published in Eric Blair's book).

The prototype was done by Holden and they supplied a new body option tag for the car. The red hatch you are talking about I believe was actually done by Pattersons
