The problems I have seen in the past have been caused by the caustic solution getting under folded seams, like around door skins and into spotwelded seams such as around screens..

 

The neutraliser had been unable to remove every last drop of the caustic solution, then as time went by,

 

moisture through rain and washing had reactivated the caustic agent, causing panels to rust out rapidly.

 

Its great that this issue has been addressed.

Sorry when I said no heat I should have said that it wasn't excessive heat

because you need to heat the solution for a good reaction

And its not caustic its an acid

This is not a Torana, but a classic being dipped at 150 degrees Fahrenheit? ( 65.6C ):-
