Rare Spares New products had these listed this week and wondered what does this actually do. I originally had one fitted in mine but removed to replace the Fuel Hose and Rubber Grommet but i never refitted it back on.

Cheers.... you know I only asked because I guess I haven't really seen a Boot with a standard fuel tank. I mean my LC when I bought it had an aftermarket Fuel Cell. I guess it's just one of those things I tend to forget.

Mines not origional either so i cant help, but standard the fuel line comes out of the top of the tank, inside the boot, travels along the boot floor for a distance then ducks down under the car again. This coveres that.

Cheers.

The section of fuel pipe the guard protects is part of the sender unit. The end of the pipe on the sender unit protrudes down through the rubber grommet in the boot floor and a rubber hose under the floor connects the sender unit pipe to the main fuel pipe to the engine.

BTW, the Rare Spares guard shown in the pic is for the XU1 tank. Rares also have the guard kit for the std 10gal tank.

Ian, two screws secure the metal sender unit guard to the boot floor.

They screw to the boot floor from memory.

Thanks Paul. Mine has been bent forward. I can unscrew it and bend it back to where it touches the fuel tank. But mine has reminance of some sticky substance. I was thinking of trying two sided tape. Cheers mate

Ian, they had a piece of bituminous type sheet glued to the side of the guard that faces the fuel tank.
