Same ..... my crown wheel & pinion are rooted.
On a different but related subject, some pinion angle adjustment can be achieved on our cars with these:

Proceed with caution using those bushes. My car had those and the problem is that the bush no longer rotates on the bolt and if the bolt can't pivot on the mount the the bush is forced to flog out the hole in the trailing arm and pivot from there instead. The next problem I had was each bush had rotated differently which then effectively makes the arms different lengths and effects the height of the car and the wheel alignment.
After all that when you want to remove them you'll need to try to cut through the bolt between the trailing arm and the bracket on the chassis rail it's mounted to.
This is just my experience with those, but others may have had more success with them. I cringed when I saw them.
JD
These are poly bushes. The bush doesn't pivot on the bolt - it pivots on the crush tube.
The crush tube is made larger with an off set centre hole. The outer shell of the bush is an interference fit in the arm. When you rotate the crush tube by means of the knurled bolt you are adjusting the effective length of the trailing arm. Note that the crush tubes also have knurled ends, so when you tighten them in their mountings the inner faces can bite and resist turning under load, therefore maintaining the eccentric settings you have applied.
You can use the eccentric bolts to adjust pinion angle and/or rectify wheel base discrepancies.
The knurled bolt can be tapped out of the bush with a hammer.

James - just for reference did you have any photos of your bushes that you pulled out of the car ?
be really good if we can see if the same bushes were used in your car ( ex race )
both steve and i have been talking to different suspension guys over the last weeks

Sorry Grant but I don't have any photos. They were as pictured but blue nolethane type.
When I rebushed it I had to tack weld the new rubber bushes in place due to the holes being enlarged by the arms moving around on the old bushes. I could actually feel this happening at times.
I recently replaced the whole arms and bushes.
Due to the angle of the trailing arm mount and contour of the floor it's hard to get a good hit at the bolt to knock it out and mine didn't move at all when I tried.
Other people may have better experience's with these than I did, but also keep in mind that I returned my car back to a street car and not a track car.
I kept the good mods and refined them and removed the bad mods. It now looks fairly standard but performs, handles and brakes as well as ever.

I am no suspension technician, but I have no doubt about what you described was happening with your trailing arm bushes.
In my search to find someone to guide & advise me about setting up my car, I have realised there are many differing opinions about how to go about it. Some even contradictory. And it would seem there have been some pretty horrible things done to LC’s & LJ’s in the past to try and make them handle better. Add to that the ever improving grip afforded from the development of R Spec tyres and it makes coming up with the right answers very difficult (I think Grant is also at this point). I hope when I’m finished I can also say I have a car that handles well!

Well
all i can say to Steve is that if it doesn't work then where both going down in a ball of flames, but I will say that i hate doing shit twice/ Although i cannot escape this circle of learn fail re do ! LOL
I think we will be alright with a bit of bouncing back and forth on this steve. We all have to remember that it's " just not driving a race car on the road" and once you make these mods then you are tunning up the suspension for peak performance.
It's a bit like fitting a MASSIVE CAM , it's no good under 3800K and the suspension is no different once you get to this end.
the wheels are cross eyed
they look to far forward on side view
and they sloping in at the top
not really a great street car to pick up the milk in.
I'm not mentioning the company who is selling the packages but we both have sort of qualified the source through different means. It just hurts the hip pocket to get there.
1 more mill.

Well were on the way to getting ready for muscle car masters. F$%@K i seem like i have been working on this car all year. I actually have and and getting it upto scratch or race ready takes heaps of effort.
The things i did last weekend.
i had to undo the roll cage to fix the floor and not sure if i can get the rear seat in with the cage in, Will definitely have to take one of the front seats.
This weekend chores are ;
Need to buy helmet and HANS device and i still cannot decide although i have tried the normal ones now with open face helmets - that's next week
change master cylinder - if i have time
The spare motor lifter bores are done and that needs to be picked up as well.

rang up today to check if i needed to run a consul - as usual the answer is " yes" .
so had to source a shitty center consul to screw in.
forgot the two new tyre's that need to be done + full balance as the 1 race old ones need to now be put onto the back and fresh ones run in on the front at practice
last time i tried to get new tyre's they only had two so i put the new ones on the front and now these need to be rotated to the back.
the problem i have with this car is that the log book has no previous entries ( replacement log book) and they will smash me on the first inspection so the car needs to be faultless for the scrutineer.
Add - new globe to stop light as well.
subtract - brake shoes are not happening - I'll just wind up and adjust.
subtract - master cylinder - it's not leaking but will take
Items crossed off list;
have new helmet
have new HANS
Ps have done a few hard and fast corners at the kitchen table and the restriction seems to be OK. It's a lot better than what i thought for visibility to the side.

HAA !
We have new neighbors this week which bought the neighbors place and me and the missus were laughing tonight as the old neighbor forgot to tell them;
three kids that constantly jump on the trampoline out the back and fight
two screeming parents - prior to school and post school
a rescue dog named " jack russell" who has some issues - hates possums, cats and DUDes that wear hats and sunnies and is constantly " ON THE EDGE " like an ice addict - hes a jack russell- LOL
they own two torana's - one being a race car that the bogan works on at the weekend
I like to save some money so i do stuff myself - which takes a bit longer -
There in their late 40's and have no kids - HA - LOL
too funny
Too see me at the kitchen table taking a few corners with my new helmet and hans device will just top it off.
fu8Ck it I have enough friends and i don't need any more

they might have retired early and decided the Northern Beaches would be a nice place to quietly relax?.....Doh
Just introduce yourself and explain that the cars are for a charity , no need to mention the charity is you.

A great day at Sydney Motorsport Park today.
Here are the boys prepping the Rocket for its first ever Group Nc race at Muscle Car Masters. Was up against some very stiff competition with David Wall, John Bowe, Glenn Seton, and Steven Johnson making up the first two rows of the grid. Lining up with those greats is living the dream - good on you Grant.

update reqd. Grant...after you catch your breath..ta
Posted 09 September 2015 - 07:39 PM
Well it's not the tidiest car and it has plenty of faults , but the little rocket gave his all and lasted the weekend.
Going across the finish line in the last race it spat a fan belt and ripped off the new alternator leaving half of the aluminum bracket attached to the block bracket The water pump stopped pumping and the temp went through the roof, came into the pits and steam was coming out from under the bonnet.
I let it cool down, had a beer and then started to pack up, drove the little car onto the trailer and said
" that will do pig, that will do "
LOL
It was one of the best weekends and mixed with consistent times running around 1.56 or there abouts which is 7 seconds off the top torana. It lacks about 30 hp ( i guess ).
The dropping of the flag to the first 3 or 4 corners there is rubber flying everywhere and it's just a massive buzz It was just great to get onto that grid like " Steve the spanner man Daiziel " said. having a race with john bowe, glenn seaton and steven johnson up front I had to have a second look at the starting line up.
There was a lot to get used to as I had a new race harness, helmet and HANS which all added to some issues trying to get used to the new seating position.and reaching the instruments
At one stage the motor would not start and the ignition wire to the stater motor had broken which we easily fixed but not before dropping the car down and putting the jack stand into the sill - oh well it's just a race car . bit of bog and touch up and it will all be alright.
The motor is or has been getting a little worse with the pressuring of the motor which means that it needs a freshen up and I have decided to pull the motor out and not do any more racing this year. It's had the shit flogged out of it for 12 months and is now about 7 meetings old so that's about it's limit and given no previous history on the amount of klms done. I'm going to do a compression test before i pull it out.
I have some build stuff ready to go - new motor - detroit, new axles and suspension so I'm just going to focus on sorting these out over the next few months, I'm also building a new instrument dash so i can see the gauges as the Xu1 dash is really hard to see the temp and oil pressure gauges.
Col it's been a big year and am looking forward to sorting the car out a bit more..
I have a big couple of months ahead and hopefully it all goes smoothly

nice work mate....dont forget, you are running 6" rims too, not 7's..let alone all the tricky watts/panhard arse ends getting around.......so times are pretty good.!
Be very interested in your thought re the Detoit Locker, once in and running.

Would love to see some pics or videos!
And look forward to hearing about the rejuvenated red rocket!
