I think you will find that they are off a Volvo 164/264. They are to suit the ventilated rotors.

This is the set up on my car but I've never known where they originally came from.

Ive ordered and paid for a set of those speed bleeders for the front calipers, rear drums and the hydraulic clutch. Not cheap but I wont have to pester wife and/or daughter to help bleed the system aagin.

motor and box back in.

sorry for the no photos - ill do some photos and explaining later.

a few this needed to fire the old girl up;

  • wheel alignment
  • extractors
  • carbies
  • tail shaft
  • bleed brakes

A word of warning on the bolts that hold on the pressure plate - if the have not been replaced the the pressure plate wears the thread off the bolts and hence when you tighten them up they cannot hold the tension without breaking .

another day another issue - removing a snapped off pressure plate bolt from the fly wheel - it came out i prayed to the torana god and a lot of swearing.- easy out was my friend today- back the snapped off bolt from the starter motor side,

what really shits me is when you give your car to a shop and they just don't to the small things like get new bolts - it's a race car FFSS

anther thing is the comp of the motor. it's an old school motor with a 12.1 comp flat tops and a 46cc chamber.

It made 202 hp at the wheels on 98.

both the engine builder and the dyno bloke " tilleys at brookvale " are saying - run on avgas from here on in.

didn't see this comming with the avgas.

luckly the australia distrubitor to AVGAS is 30 mns away - but u need to buy 200 ltrs

one more lesson

im sick of learning lessons FFS

To be legal you will have to get a special pass/ logbook from CAMS to be able to buy Avgas. It is a government requirement to fill in this logbook when you buy Avgas even at a race circuit. Big fine for the retailer if he is caught selling the fuel without the required logbook/ pass.
Another thing store any drums of Avgas at home off the ground on a pallet or some wooden blocks as the moisture from the concrete can cause problems with water absorption.

http://powerplusfuel.com.au/ Try this stuff, they sell unleaded fuels, so no need for a pass book.

What all that means in my understanding is that if you are a member of the NSW App J Association you are OK as it is an affialiated club with CAMS.

The Cams log book/pass is a sanctioned identification. It also means that you are probably able to go and buy it at Bankstown or Camden Aerodrome with the CAMS fuel Logbook. Of course ring them first to confirm. Some Aero clubs let you and others dont.

The way I read the regs any CAMS license holder can buy it, which is good for me :D

Ok I'll start with the differential;

I swaped put the old CIG welded centre and also the housing - both the bolt arms that hold on the shocks were broken off at some stage and welded back on - who knows how this happened - but the whole housing needed to be replaced.

I skip all the painting stuff as it's boring and a part of the build that i would rather forget. But it allowed me to make modifications to the front K frame to just give the extractors a bit more room.

I drilled the backing plates to give me some more air flow into the brakes, it's got 3/4 inch wheel cylinders - with later model push rods.

the brake shoes are race and riveted.

the diff got some baffles as well.

Next was the suspension and putting the diff in and setting up. the usual shit with doing the handbrake line and then also the brake lines.

was good to go through the whole suspension out back and tension up all the bolts and check everything.

I put new springs in and also spax double adjustable shocks and ended up with this.

I put the longer wheel studs in as well when i got the axles made.

Next was the front K frame and this also had new bushes and parts.

engine and box in. Also wrapped the pipes to keep the heat down in the engine bay.

did a bit of porting of the intake manifold and also the header gasket to better match the intake and port.

bought some trumpets for the old SU's

you can see were we took some weight off the fly wheel and put in the bigger ARP bolts.

Engine's in and manifolds fitted.
