The Rocket was spotted dri#ing through Brook#ale a couple of weeks back. Tailgating a bus in an attempt to reduce detection.

+1 for historic rego.

Here in Victoria, VicRoads, our car and boat registration authority have a system of permits. They are available for 7 or 28 days to allow one to drive an unregistered car on the road for the purposes or getting it to a workshop for necessary works to be done on the car. This includes servicing and tuning and for the purposes of a roadworthy inspection. This sort of permit may be available fromRMS and may be worth investigating.

col - ive stop watching porn and have been watching " how to buff a car " - there is some similarities between  buffing a car and giving a young lady a serve - there is white stuff everywhere

so on another mind set, i have been wet and drying rocket with 2000, i think after today i need to give the old paint work a bit higher grade paper to get the fine marks out.

the paints not that good in some places and I need to stay away with the buff;- but will be trying to get a higher grade wet and dry paper to take the marks out prior to the cutting compound.

but grumpy and Jd sent through some really good info and some time on the phone - thanks gents.

went with

facieda G3 +

swirl remover

matching the paint;

had an old tin that came with the car and went to the paint shop today, and they gave me some colour cards to paint and return - so that's done and tomorrow at least we should have a paint match or at least close.

it's acrylic and that's easy for me and the car.

G

I'm glad that I could help mate. I think that you've seen the before and after on my car. It's far from perfect but it's a huge improvement.

Great thread grant, felt your pain and frustration through the whole journey, I'm sure it all fades after some good races. My father raced sports sedans when I was younger and your race day stories brought back so many memories.Oil leaks, broken axles, gearboxes etc his engines always had to much power for old equipment. One thing I can't believe no one else has brought up is your workshop! It's your front yard!! The work you do outside is remarkable a big pat on the back for your commitment and effort well done mate.

no pete not yet, but the flick between youtube and youp0rn is really quick these dayz

lol.

not much to report but i did match the acrylic paint colour and it looks the goods - so just need a bit of time to tackle a few trial runs.

gave the engine bay a massive clean over the weekend and no oil leaks.

Finished 2000 wet and dry the bonnet and roof - so slowly slowly on this.

This was the advert.

Procomp fuel cell, never been used. Only taken out of box for photo. Change of plans with build & no longer needed. Paid $380 by memory a few years ago. It was 50 ltr.

I think he wanted $250-260 for it

ha ha Grant....yes...very honest of you to not just blame the courier and say you never saw anything!! Thanks

I still have a series of photos taken with all the key measurements to fab the alloy tub, as you asked, if you ever want them.?

However, I have noticed that at least one top level Nc car doesnt run any tub, just has the tank protruding thru the floor. Sort of suprises me that.

But I guess half the late model road cars these days have plastic fuel tanks slung under them with little additional protection..

In my view I think that the fitment of the tank that low to allow the fuel fitings to be exposed is a bit dangerous. One decent hit up the arse and there would be a huge fuel spil. Not to mention a lose and backing it into a wall somewhere. I have a similar tank but the fittings are up berhind th beaver panel.

Pete - the faceless book has banned me from their site, apparently i didn't see the email to my second email account asking to verify that I'm G Harrington , apparently they think I donald trump and have asked for further information to make sure Im G harrington.

so i have not been able to look at the said alloy tank.

once donald trump is appointed as president of the USA - apparently i will have my access to faceless book, I have only been putting off joining for some 10 years or so

the alana morreset song comes to mind where she signs " isnt it ironic " I could finish the words, " when you decide to join facccceboo0k and then they don't let you join" LOL

the fight goes on - lets make america great again !!!!

PS they made me submit my NSW drivers license = to ensure that G harrington is , old has some grey hair, sun spots and some days dozent give a shit, likes to have a few in the garage whilst mumbling to himself about torana's

I really cannot be FKED - its all too hard - can you please send me the dudes number and i'll call him pls

faceless G again

I think even a descent ripple strip would give that tank a touch up ....

That orange LJ  is a great Nc car, it is jacked up at the front too, makes the back look lower than it is.

Must have been OK with the Scrutineers, as it ran there all day at a big meeting.

I guess there are plenty of those type of fuel tanks tucked away behind fibreglass panels on racecars, that are no worse?....but its probably comforting to see a bit of metal work protecting it somewhere.

Fuel sprayed everywhere one pissy little spark from a shorting mangled wire, two jagged bits of metal tear against each other, gonna need a big bloody hose.
