Well I have some good news on the car front last night we got 203 hp at the wheels on the dyno.
happy as with that.
Learn't a heap along the way and with a few needle changes or fine tuning there is a bit more in it but that's post Christmas
I was only expecting around 165 hp as this was the previous dyno figures with the SU's ( 125 wk.)
I replace all the above items in the previous post and it just goes to show that a good spark " all the way through the rev range is one important thing".
only reved to 6 k max
happy daze

Why would you ever ditch su's when they can make that power eh?
That's gonna feel good around the track.
Jealous much...

Yep Steve gave myself a day off work today ! doing practice today racing Sat + sun
Although they will say that regularity is not racing - it's actually a lot harder than it looks.
you have to nominate a time - you get time penalties if you go quicker than your nominated time and less time penalties if you go slower. So the dude that came last can win the regularity based on his time consistency which makes the guy running first place not so important.
there are a few going from the northern beaches and will be on the back flat concrete area together
2x datuns 260 z

Me
cars on the trailer missus away - no kids - give the dog a pat and a feed when i come home - cannot ask for anything better LOL
PS - still hiding the invoice for the work in my car - but worth it. Hopefully don't need a major spend like this one for a while.

looking forward to the pics / vid mate.
p.s ...hope that guy who hit the wall ""at 160"" is OK
col,
it was dead set like this.
the ron goodman 675 or 567 or 574 Porsche let it guts go on turn one all the way to turn to where he parked it up.
I was next to the mustang all the way down the straight and then all of a sudden a " rover 3500 " yes that's right some luney is racing a rover came up at the end of the straight !
the mustang took the inside the rover was in the middle and i took the outside.
by this time we had washed a bit of speed off and out of turn one there was a 1.5m wide sparkling strip of oil
We were the first cars across the oil slick and i never saw the oil flag as i was trying to get round the rover who was in the way to the approach to turn 1.
I never found the rover driver so i could thank him for for getting in the way _ LOL
looked at the vid today and it needs the camera to move forward so that the Seat being black will not send everything forward of the driver brighter than it's supposed to.
FARRRFK there is a lot of two ugly creatures looking into the camera many times saying " is it working ".
It's pretty funny me and Wayne looking into the camera with two weather beaten heads - about 10 clips of this HAAA!
I will up load to the tube and post. I have to get the missus to help with the edit.
thanks Wayne for the help over the weekend.

Jonesy,
Was talking to the SU guru today who has a dyno where the car will be going and there is a few funny things going on.
Great power and torque numbers mate! You should be stoked!
Where did you get the dunk/SU tune from? Not many specialists left in this area...

Friday practice.
Was only happy to rev to 6K or under.
New tyre's were on. I was told to run at 50% otherwise the tyre's would not last - so out i went and just looked at the lines and the track.
got a feel of the corners and they were similar to the motor bike lines I used to take EC pays for being smooth rather than point and shoot as it's a high speed track.
Did a heap of oil breather work on the motor and fixed up the rocker cover bolts and after a few sessions was happy that there was no oil spewing out the top of the motor.
I noted that the celica box had a front seal leak and this was causing a bit of a worry but it felt fine and there was no noise - so it was check the level and keep going.
on last run of the day a massive blue smoke come out of the car at turn three (3) and immediately thought " there goes the motor " so i wound down and into turn 4 which is the back pit entry.
Into our bay and jumped out of the car we all looked under neath and there was oil everywhere AGAIN (F #IT ) - for sure the front seal had blown in the box.
Started to go the ring around at 4.45 so see if we can get a new seal and Jay at Gearex supplied a blokes details who had the parts.
In the mean time we were busy stripping the parts around the Box and the car was super hot so wayne the ( hq driver) took off the boot on the gear stick and found the problem.
the cover plate had worked loose and there was a 4-6mm gap and all the oil was pissing out the top of the box across the tunnel and onto the exhaust. - happy Days
March hare to Big bopper were still it the game big bopper !
A bit of silastic clean down tighten up and were all good for saturday.
Saturday.
Well it's F%@en hot.
the poor little dude only has a stock radiator and today it was getting hot 27 degrees.
Given that the motor had sat for a while and now has a few heat cycles through it the scale of the block has started to dislodge and end up in the radiator top.
the temp was running around 100-120 degrees and this is clearly too hot but the car kept on going.
the front seal was still leaking from the box but the main issue was sorted the day before.
I put a bottle of water wetter in the radiator to see if this would work - but it was like pissing in the wind
the new problem was over heating.
so on Saturday after the race decided to pull out the radiator and take home and flush out with CLR from bunnings - good stuff for a quick clean of a radiator $18 bucks.
to be sure i pulled out the GTR radiator 3 core and and took it as well
the amount of scale that came out of the radiator was heaps and who knows how much has now clogged the finns between the top tank and the bottom.
upon taking the stone tray out and looking underneath the car one of the nolethane rubbers of the front of the castor arms passenger side was missing.
so it was into the garage at home and finding some old clapped out rubber ones.
on this day the front was bottoming out and now i know why at turn 4.
Sunday.
started at the track at 7 and re fitted the castor rubbers - radiator and stone tray.
checked oil and he presto it's all happen again.
plenty of laughs, heaps of shit stirring , good company, learnt a heap = knackered
BUT there was no issues from the previous race day so were moving in the right direction Big bopper.
G
the SU guy is at cromer MIA engines - races a datto 260 Z with SU's . Has a dyno and knows his stuff. James Flett is his name.

Thanks to SmacT from this ( gmh torana) website rocket and myself had the privileged of attending SMP for a photo shoot for the ARDC promotion material for their website and other media material.
It was a mad rush to get a few things done and pick up a trailer as i only got home from Bali on tuesday.
I replaced the mirrors with chrome ones as i could not bare to see the photos with non torana mirrors.
Sam needed a red historic motor car to go with the ducati and Ferrari.
it was a 4 am start and car off by 5am and onto the track. It was great just to have the privilege to be part of this and thanks Sam for the invitation had a great time.
A massive bonus was that St George MC was running their inter club meeting at the track and this meant that i got to catch up with a few blokes that i raced with. Dave ( motard) Linden ( 696 ) the five fingers was for BEARS F 5 our race category. did a bit of spanner spinning in the pits for the boys and then came home !.
Wakefield next stop 21st feb.
I get a set of photos of my car alone on the track as well.
